Our Cabernet Sauvignon combines two vineyard sources to achieve a wine brimming with a bright Sonoma style. Our goal is always to produce our Cabernet Sauvignon to be enjoyed in a variety State Route 12 traverses nearly the entire state of California and takes a historic stroll through the most heralded wine growing appellations in the State.
Of particular pride to us, is the idyllic Sonoma County, and the sub appellations of Sonoma Valley and Carneros. ¬is where we make the wines of Highway 12. Founded in 2006 and situated in the historic city of Sonoma in the heart of Sonoma Valley Vineyard which is a slightly cooler climate provides rich, luscious hillside fruit from Arrowhead Mountain.
The cooler temperatures here provide for a longer ripening period when flavors can develop without reaching high sugar levels. As a result, we achieve a wine with solid structure, intense flavors and soft, balanced tannins. The winemaking process focuses on minimal intervention of the wine during aging to allow the truest of the varietal characteristics to shine.
This philosophy allows us the opportunity to produce a wine that purely represents the traditional style of the vineyards in our Sonoma Wine Country. Comprised of additions of 10% Cabernet Franc and 8% Merlot, the wine was aged in French oak for 16 months and showcases cedary overtones supported by round mid-palate body and slightly tingly tannins on the edge of the finish. Entry into this wine exhibits soft earthtones tones on the nose with hints of cherry and oak.
The wine transitions into a wonderful Sonoma fruit ripeness showcasing a richness and dense, yet inviting and slightly chewy core.
