Istituto Agrario di San Michele all'Adige

An extension of the renowned institute, the winery of San Michele is located in what was once an Augustan monastery in the 12th century. Expanded over the course of the last 20 years, the winery today features modern enological technology that is dedicated to the production of indigenous varietals like Lagrein that represent the unique history of winemaking in Trentino.

Hand harvested grapes are pressed and macerate for 15 days at 82° F. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Wine is racked and placed in barriques

Aging Process
Aged 6 months in French oak barriques; 2-3 months of bottle refinement

Tasting Notes
Color: Intense ruby red
Bouquet: Characteristic nose of dark red fruit, herbs and licorice
Flavor: On the palate it is dry, fresh, rich, with excellent balance, soft tannins, and a persistent fruity finish.
Pairings: Suitable for roasts, stews, game and aged cheeses
