  • Score: 98 Vintage 2021 Vinous Media The 2021 Malbec originates from a 1932 plot planted in Mainqué, Río Negro, and underwent aging for up to two years in barriques and 500-liter French oak barrels. It was born in the cool and balanced 2021 vintage. Vivid purple-red in hue, the inviting nose reveals delicate notes of fresh plum, elderberry and violet, complemented by hints of chamomile and sweetbriar over a subtle layer of cedar. Dry and juicy, with fine-grained tannins, it stands out as one of the most flavorful Noemías I've ever tasted. With an additional year in the bottle, it will become even silkier and deeper. I would love to revisit it in five years. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 96 Vintage 2020 Vinous Media The 2020 Malbec originates from a 1932 plot planted in Mainqué, Río Negro, and underwent a two-year aging process in barriques and 500-liter barrels. Due to the warm vintage, this Noemía showcases a distinct character compared to the 2021 vintage tasted alongside. With a purple hue, the fruit-forward nose presents cherry and sweetbriar notes, accented by dried floral tones. Dry and relatively lean in comparison to other vintages, the 2020 offers good balance and a flavorful palate. The mouthfeel is a bit more one-dimensional than usual, but it lingers long. • Score: 97 Vintage 2019 Vinous Media Noemía's 2019 Malbec has done it again; Hans Vinding Diers hit the mark with a superbly elegant, nuanced interpretation of Malbec from Mainque, Río Negro. Fermented in open casks, with 30% whole bunches, it was aged in casks and foudres for a year before being racked into used barrels for two more months. The grapes come from a vineyard first planted in 1932 and tended to as a garden ever since. As Vinding Diers says: “We’re working to reveal even more of the magic of this vineyard.” The nose is a pure compendium of fresh plum and sweet and sour cherry along with violets and a hint of tea. The aging process flirts with revealing itself but is only really an insinuation. Things get even better in the complex mouth: the proportion of all the different parts – acidity, tannins and alcohol – ensures good balance and fits perfectly together in a way that they continue right through to a finish where the whole becomes more than the sum. A deliciously detailed wine. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 97 Vintage 2018 Vinous A Malbec from Mainque, planted in 1932, aged in 600-liter barrels for 18 months. It boasts a combination of elegance and liveliness that the oenologist responsible for it, Hans Vinding Diers, the current owner of the winery, says “marks the beginning of a new path” in which the vineyard is managed with great attention to detail. And with extraordinary results. The perfumed nose runs through layers of sweet and sour cherry and onto the woody notes with purity and precision that evoke the landscapes of Patagonia. Delicate but compelling in the mouth; the tannins are extremely fine and give a cozy, warm sensation that begins in the lips, as though you’d rubbed them with Chapstick. Silky and flavorful, with both punch and subtlety, it has a natural energy in which each different element is in equilibrium; that’s the key to this breathtaking wine. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 97 Vintage 2018 James Suckling Super intensity of pure fruit here with blackberries, purple fruit and fresh flowers. Cassis, tile and tapenade undertones, as well as licorice. Full-bodied, dense and layered with refined, polished tannins that go on for minutes. Energetic refinement here. Drinkable now, but better after 2021. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 96 Vintage 2017 James Suckling So floral on the nose with hints of citrus and crushed stones. Medium to full body. Very silky tannins. Extended finish that gives a sense of ripeness and precision. The fruit pops out at the end. Balanced and all about finesse. Savory freshness brings you back together. Drinkable now, but will age for years ahead. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 93 Vintage 2017 Vinous A Malbec planted in 1932 in Mainque, aged in 600-liter barrels for 23 months. The year and the new direction taken by the man in charge of Noemía, Hans Vinding Diers, both bore fruit in this wine. Purple in color with a nose of ripe plum and cedar and pencil box aromas, it is delicate in the mouth, presenting a smooth, elegant complexion and an aftertaste of oak overlaid with a gentle touch of smoke. A deliciously fluid take on the variety. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
