  • Score: 89 Vintage 2018 Vinous Media Musky dried cherries, rose petals and spice waft up from the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Gualto. It’s soft textured, nearly fleshy in feel, with hints of orange and salty minerals giving way to tart wild berry fruits. This finishes tannic and full of tension, leaving a sour sensation and savory herbs to linger. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 94 Vintage 2016 Wine Spectator Displaying succulent cherry, raspberry, leather and spice flavors, this red is sleek and well-structured. Features fine balance and a finish that echoes the fruit while picking up a mineral component. Fresh and long. Best from 2025 through 2040. 333 cases made, 75 cases imported. • Score: 94 Vintage 2016 Wine Advocate The Camigliano 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Gualto shows increased precision and sharper lines compared to the 2017 wines reviewed here. This wine also reveals a more vibrant and intact fruit character with immediate aromas of cherry, wild plum and rose. In all, this production of 3,800 bottles shows a careful, delicate approach that is in line with this classic, slightly cooler vintage. This wine probably offers you the best value among this set of new releases.Camigliano has completed its conversion over to organic farming, and the wines from the 2017 vintage should already fall under organic protocols (although I didn't yet notice a seal of certification on the sample bottles I received). • Score: 93 Vintage 2016 James Suckling A rather soft and juicy Brunello with cherry, chocolate, walnut and bark character. It’s savory and fresh with lots going on. Very structured and polished. Goes on for minutes. Give it two to three years to come together. Try after 2023. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 92 Vintage 2016 Vinous Media The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Gualto wafts up with an intense display of medicinal cherries, wild herbs and smoky crushed stone. This is pure and cool-toned, yet it offers the silkiest of textures and luxuriously ripe red fruits that balance the expression well. The Riserva Gualto tapers off lightly structured with balsam herbs and a subtle tug of grippy tannins. Don’t come here expecting a big strapping Riserva; the 2016 is all about charm. • Score: 97 Vintage 2015 Wine Spectator Sleek and linear in profile, this red offers intense strawberry, raspberry, rose and wild herb flavors, with flourishes of mineral and tobacco. Solidly built, this leaves a long, resonant aftertaste of fruit, mineral and spice notes. Distinctive for its bright red fruit flavors. Best from 2024 through 2045. 350 cases made, 100 cases imported. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 94 Vintage 2015 Wine Advocate Offering ripeness and texture, the Camigliano 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Gualto is a fun and accessible wine. The bouquet is very expressive, even at this young stage. I got a charge out of those shifting aromas of dark fruit, ripe cherry, rosemary essence and a touch of eucalyptus oil that lift from the bouquet. Those balsam herb aromas are well defined, and they always appear with the prettiest intensity in the warmer vintages like 2015. Riserva Gualto shows good structure and enough acidity to keep those fruit flavors fresh and bright. Only 4,000 bottles were made. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 90 Vintage 2015 James Suckling A succulent, juicy red with plum, berry and some meat and spice undertones. Medium body, medium tannins and a lightly bitter finish. Drink now. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 90 Vintage 2015 Vinous Media The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Gualto from Camigliano shows a mix of wild strawberry, sage, leather and moist earth, with a hint of sweet spice that comes forward over time. It’s silky and savory in the mouth, balancing red berries with tactile salty mineral tones and slow-mounting tannins which come forward toward the close. While balanced, clean and with a classically structured finale, I simply don’t find the depth here to warrant extended cellaring. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 93 Vintage 2013 Wine Spectator Offers a clear expression of cherry flavors, with hints of plum and strawberry, augmented by leather, tobacco and almond hints. A dense matrix of acidity and tannins lifts all the elements, while the aftertaste lingers. Excellent harmony. Best from 2022 through 2040. 450 cases made, 150 cases imported. –BS Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 93 Vintage 2013 Vinous Media Bright red-ruby. Perfumed aromas and flavors of red cherry, violet, underbrush, licorice and sweet spices. Clean, round and fleshy in the mouth, with sweet red cherry nuances lingering nicely on the long, refined finish. This is immensely better than Camigliano’s disappointing 2014 Brunello and, though brimming with early appeal, it’s worth laying away in your cellar and enjoyed over the next fifteen years or so. • Score: 93 Vintage 2013 Wine Advocate The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Gualto (with 4,000 bottles made) is a firmly textured wine that needs extra bottle time to relax and unwind. This youthful expression is still somewhat firm and stubborn with linear tones of black fruit, spice, smoke and camphor ash. This wine ages in 20-hectoliter botte for 36 months and evidently needs more time to soften and evolve. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 91 Vintage 2013 James Suckling This has an array of savory spices with cedar, herbs and dried-berry aromas, leading to a palate that has a bright, fresh array of blue fruit. Neat and approachable Brunello. Drink or hold. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 90 Vintage 2013 Wine Enthusiast Aromas of French oak, black-skinned fruit, underbrush and leather aromas come together on this. On the linear structured palate, tight-knit fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity frame mature Marasca cherry, prune, clove and a hint of coffee bean before the firm finish. • Score: 91 Vintage 2012 Wine and Spirits This wine opens with ripe cherry flavors and notes of roasted mushroom, licorice and tobacco. Sturdy tannins frame the flavors as the wine develops complex spice and herb notes that last. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
