  • Score: 93 Vintage 2020 Decanter Fossacolle manages four hectares in Tavernelle, a southern village within the Montalcino appellation but quite high in altitude and surrounded by forest. Here, Sangiovese Grosso matures with plenty of aromatics. Medlar, rhubarb, smoke, raspberry, anise and graphite...the complexity on the nose is completed in the mouth by large velvety tannins, refreshing acidity and a long, thick finish. Exquisitely typical Sangiovese. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 91 Vintage 2020 James Suckling Magazine Currants, black cherries, crushed stones and hazelnuts on the nose, leading to a juicy and creamy palate with a medium body and supple tannins. Delicious hazelnut character at the end. Drink now. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 91 Vintage 2019 James Suckling Rather dusty and fruity with dark cherries and berries, as well as cedar. Medium body. Flavorful finish. Drink now. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 94 Vintage 2018 Wine Enthusiast On the nose, aromas of cherry, blood orange, iron and sage come together to create a warm, sanguine feeling. The palate leans earthy, with notes of brick and more herbs, but the incisive astringency of dried cherries and cranberries provides balance. Acid slices through a cloud of dusty, chewy tannins. • Score: 91 Vintage 2018 Vinous Media Deep red. Clean, fresh aromas of red fruit, tobacco and underbrush. Juicy and broad in scope with polished tannins that nicely let the ripe red fruit and herbal flavors flow on the rising long finish. A touch of alcohol-derived warmth becomes apparent on the back end, but this stays lively and fresh throughout. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 88 Vintage 2016 Wine Enthusiast Aromas of ripe dark berry, underbrush and cooking spice lead the nose. The fleshy palate offers black plum, licorice and vanilla alongside supple tannins. Drink through 2021. KERIN O’KEEFE Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 88 Vintage 2016 Wine Advocate This is a cheerfully fresh and zesty wine to drink on informal occasions. The 2016 Rosso di Montalcino (with 5,600 bottles made) opens to a pretty bouquet with cherry, raspberry and red currant. There are mild background hints of smoke and tar. It washes over the palate with simplicity and ease. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
