“The 2015 Rocca di Frassinello is powerful, sumptuous and deeply expressive. An exotic mélange of raspberry jam, spice, new leather, chocolate, tobacco and grilled herbs gives the 2015 its decidedly flamboyant personality. This rich, heady coastal Tuscan red will appeal most to readers who enjoy racy, bold wines. The oak needs to settle down, but there is certainly plenty to look forward to.”

“Brooding and thick, the 2014 Maremma Toscana Rocca di Frassinello takes all the intensity of the vintage and pours it into the glass. That’s saying a lot because this vintage infamously lacked in intensity overall, although you’d never know it here. Rocca di Frassinello makes good on the excellent environmental factors that contribute to this wine. There is the sunshine of Coastal Tuscany, the light sea breezes and the reddish Maremma soils. This Bordeaux blend born in Tuscany offers dark fruit aromas, savory spice and bitter chocolate. The tannins are soft, but the wine does deliver solid structure to keep it firmly stitched together.”

“The 2014 Rocca di Frassinello offers good depth and intensity in a mid-weight style that is typical of many wines in this vintage. Red cherry, tobacco, menthol, dried herbs and licorice make a positive strong impression before some of the intensity tapers off on the finish.”

“The 2013 Maremma Toscana Rocca di Frassinello is a blend of 60% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot (aged in mostly new oak for two years). This is a stunning wine and is, without a doubt, one of the two best wines I have yet to taste from Rocca di Frassinello. The other is the 100% Baffonero Merlot. What distinguishes this wine is the seamless its intensity and its integration. There are absolutely no rough transitions here and the wine wraps smoothly over the palate with firm determination. The dry extract is high (38 grams per liter) and all that heft and density leaves a lasting positive impression.”

"A full-bodied red with dried fruit and lots of berry and toasted oak character. Coffee, too. A full-bodied, ripe and drink-me style of red. Mostly sangiovese with the rest being merlot and cabernet sauvignon. Drink or hold."

"A dark, sensual wine, the 2013 Rocca di Frassinello is also quite inviting, something the best Maremma reds always have in common. Mocha, espresso, blue/purplish-hued fruit, leather, smoke and dark spices all flesh out in the glass. Although the Rocca di Frassinello is mostly Sangioveto, the flavor profile is very much on the dark side, while there is plenty of the signature Maremma warmth and richness woven throughout."

"This bright, juicy red is full of plum and black cherry flavors, with flourishes of tobacco and spice. Balanced and modern, showing firm grip on the finish. Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2019."
