  • Score: 96 Vintage 2019 Decanter The abundant 2019 vintage resulted in Salvioni releasing both a Rosso and Brunello. The latter is a stunning follow up to the former: restrained yet captivating in its aromatic presentation, chestnut, fragrant wet forest and underbrush are accented by dried heather and juniper. The tannins are commanding and pervasive but roll over the palate gracefully, conferring a tactile, powdery texture. Still very understated, this hints at raspberries, currants and black tea, particularly on the long finish. As discreetly compelling as this is now, it will benefit from cellaring and possesses the power for a long stint there. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 97 Vintage 2018 Wine Enthusiast The nose is simultaneously tart and rich, with aromas of sour cherry, cranberry and raspberry, while undertones of soil, coffee, cacao nibs and iron provide a warmer, savory balance. The palate has luxurious, brooding dark fruit, sliced through with searing acidity and towering tannins. A tour de force. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 95 Vintage 2018 Wine Advocate The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino La Cerbaiola shows pretty color saturation with shiny highlights of dark garnet and black ruby. The bouquet is punchy and bright, but you also get a good dose of primary fruit with black cherry and dried currant. This is one of only a handful of wines from 2018 that gives confidence in terms of its cellar-aging potential. The tannins still need time to gain polish and softness, and the fresh acidity so beautifully locks those flavors and perfumes in place. The Salvioni family has beat the odds in a challenging vintage. Exactly 9,269 bottles were released. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 95 Vintage 2018 Vinous Media The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino is a pleasure to take in aromatically and visually. Boasting a bright ruby color, significantly lighter than the average Brunello these days, it lifts from the glass with a delicate yet deeply complex bouquet, as fresh mint and citrus brilliantly accentuate dried black cherries and strawberries. This smooths over the palate, silky yet medium-bodied, guided by crisp acidity that adds a crunchy feel to the wild berry fruits within. The 2018 finishes classically structured and refined, transcending the light-hearted nature of the vintage, as it tapers off perfumed and with incredible length. This is such a beautiful vintage for Salvioni, and as I've watched it mature over the past three years, it seems to only gain in depth and complexity over time. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 98 Vintage 2017 Wine Enthusiast Camphor, ripe wild berries, underbrush and pipe tobacco are just some of the aromas that emerge on this stunning red. Full-bodied and smooth, the elegantly structured, savory palate boasts juicy Marasca cherry, truffle and licorice alongside streaks of spiced cranberry and fresh acidity that keep it focused and balanced. Taut, refined tannins provide seamless support. Drink 2023–2029. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 95 Vintage 2017 Wine Advocate The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino La Cerbaiola grows in intensity in the glass, with delicate aromas that are especially floral and light in character. Instead of blackberry or blackcurrant, this elegant wine delivers cassis and cranberry. Instead of overt spice, you get licorice, balsam herb and camphor ash. The Salvioni house style is ethereal and light, and although that extra vintage ripeness and concentration does register on the palate, farming and winemaking at this estate puts an emphasis on acidity over power or structure. These choices were particularly important in 2017. Shelf Talker Full Page Review

  • Score: 94 Vintage 2017 Vinous Media Roses upon roses, wild strawberries, dusty cedar spice box, mint leaf and a hint of wet stone open the stage for the 2017 Brunello di Montalcino from Salvioni. This is beauty personified in wine, and it’s completely atypical for the harshly warm and dry vintage conditions. It fleshes out across the palate like fine silk, concentrated and poised, yet without a hard edge in sight, as cherries and plums give way to mounting minerality and sweet tannins toward the close. The 2017 boasts a crystalline structure and dramatic inner floral perfumes, as hints of cranberry and clove taper off. While this may not show the impeccable grace of the most classic vintages, it’s a darling all the same and has medium-term cellaring potential. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 100 Vintage 2016 Wine Enthusiast Absolutely stunning, this gorgeous red has enticing aromas of wild rose, forest berries, new leather and camphor. Full-bodied and delicious, the smooth, structured palate is all about flavor, focus and finesse, doling out succulent black cherry, crushed raspberry, star anise and white pepper notes framed in tightly knit, refined tannins. Bright acidity keeps it impeccably balanced. Beautiful now and will continue to age and develop even more complexity for years to come. Drink 2024–2041. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 97 Vintage 2015 Wine Enthusiast Earthy aromas of truffle, underbrush, rose and new leather shape the nose along with scents of dark-skinned berry and eucalyptus. Full bodied and youthfully tense, the savory palate delivers crushed black cherry, crushed raspberry, licorice and tobacco set against tightly knit, refined tannins and fresh acidity. Drink 2023–2035. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 96 Vintage 2015 Vinous Media An earthy display of mineral-encased red fruits and wild herbs lifts from the glass, as the bouquet of the 2015 Salvioni Brunello di Montalcino evolves into a dark mix of ripe black cherry and dusty spices with overarching floral notes. On the palate, soft, enveloping ripe red fruits open up in an unexpectedly approachable and alluring display, with hints of sweet spice and inner florals. With more time, the flavors turn more to the savory spectrum, adding hints of dried herbs, with cascading minerals, all pushed forward by brisk acidity. The finish is long, as its staining red fruits are offset by zesty spices and acids, revealing just a hint of fine tannin beneath it all. This is an especially forward and easy-to-like expression of Salvioni, which I’m tempted to start drinking early, yet there’s enough primary fruit and acids to carry it over the medium term in the cellar. • Score: 96 Vintage 2015 Vinous Media Medium-deep red. Delightfully pure, primary aromas of raspberry, violet, licorice, flint and minerals. At once super concentrated, sappy and dense with a steely profile to the outstandingly intense raspberry, blackberry and violet flavors. Polished tannins and a firm mineral spine on the long finish. • Score: 93 Vintage 2015 Wine Spectator Fresh, featuring flavors of ripe cherry, strawberry, Mediterranean herbs and loam. Finishes with firm tannins, but feels harmonious, in a youthful way. Salty, minerally elements linger. Best from 2023 through 2040. 1,250 cases made, 125 cases imported. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
