  • Score: 93 Vintage 2020 Wine Advocate This wine sees all its fruit sourced from vineyards in Panzano in Chianti, and it was first produced in 2018. The organic Gagliole 2020 Chianti Classico Riserva comes from 16-year-old vines, and the harvest is fermented with ambient yeasts. The wine then ages in oak barrel (with 20% new oak) for a brief 12 months, followed by a few more months in cement. It is slow to open and reveals itself carefully, showing wild fruit, licorice, blue flower and crushed stone along the way. Panzano fruit always has a pretty level of sweet richness, and you get that here, followed by accessible tannins. This is a production of 9,054 bottles. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 94 Vintage 2019 Wine Advocate Only in its second vintage, the certified organic Gagliole 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva addresses the need for a category that sits between the entry-level reds and the high-end Gran Selezione wines. Fruit is sourced exclusively from Panzano for an intense ruby color shaded by elegant darkness. Aromas recall blackberry, graphite, flint and white pepper. This wine prizes freshness, a streamlined mouthfeel and those pretty mineral notes that drive a very long and polished finish. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 94 Vintage 2019 Vinous Media The 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Gallule is 100% Sangiovese from terraced vineyards on the original estate in Castellina. Bright and punchy, with lively acids, the 2019 is so expressive today. Even so, it needs a few years in bottle to be at its best. The purity of the fruit is striking. Red/purplish fruit, spice, mint and blood orange are beautifully delineated. The 2019 spent 12 months in French oak, 20% new, then another 12 months in 12HL casks. It's the first year in which casks have been introduced. Larger format oak seems to add delineation and freshness. There is so much to admire here. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 94 Vintage 2019 James Suckling Very fine tannins frame this energetic and bright Chianti Classico, with red fruit, such as cherries. It’s medium-bodied with bright acidity and a crunchy finish. Postmodern Gran Selezione. Drink or hold. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 95 Vintage 2018 James Suckling Flowers and blackberries with bark and walnut undertones. Full-bodied with extremely well crafted tannins that give depth and length. Serious balance and structure. Goes on for a long time. Very clear character here. Drink after 2022. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 91 Vintage 2018 Wine Spectator Aromas of vanilla and toasty oak lead off this version, which is backed by cherry and plum flavors. Vibrant, picking up tobacco and earth notes as this plays out on the finish. There is finesse and harmony here, just needs a few years to absorb the oak. Best from 2024 through 2037. 275 cases made, 50 cases imported. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 95 Vintage 2016 James Suckling This is a great Chianti Classico with an overload of floral aromas, such as violets and rose petals, in addition to blackcurrants, tar, asphalt and vanilla. Full-bodied but very subtle and restrained on the palate with a finely woven web of tannins and a long, taut finish. Drink from 2023. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 95 Vintage 2016 Wine Advocate Extremely fine tuned and precise, the 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Gallule offers depth and a long succession of delicate nuances with dark fruit, balsam herb, licorice and freshly tilled potting soil. This is complete and beautiful wine executed in a very classic style. This wine is all about the smaller details, best accentuated with a Porcini mushroom risotto. The Sangiovese grapes are harvested from an ancient terraced vineyard in Castellina in Chianti. A precious few 2,000 bottles were made. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 93 Vintage 2016 Wine Spectator The black cherry and black currant fruit is tightly reined in by firm, chalky tannins in this sleek red. Iron, wild Tuscan herbs and tobacco notes join the flavor parade as this converges on the lingering aftertaste. All the elements are here, but needs a year or two to come together. Best from 2022 through 2040. 150 cases made, 35 cases imported. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 92 Vintage 2016 Wine and Spirits Sangiovese for this Riserva comes from Gagliole's oldest vines, and the fruit is whole-cluster fermented to give a dense, firmly structured wine. Its black-cherry flavors are packed with notes of dark chocolate, cherry bark and peppery spice. A few years of cellaring will give the firm tannins and ample spice notes time to soften and integrate. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 92 Vintage 2016 Vinous Media The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Gallule, 100% Sangiovese from Castellina, is creamy, ample and expressive, with lovely textural depth and resonance. Dark red cherry, plum, mocha, spice and new leather all build in a super-expressive, inviting Riserva loaded with class and personality. The 2016 spent 14 months in neutral small French oak barrels. • Score: 93 Vintage 2015 Vinous Media A new wine in the range, the 2015 Chianti Classico Gallule is 100% Sangiovese from the estate's nucleus of vineyards in Castellina. Lifted, perfumed and silky, the 2015 speaks to grace above all else. Like all of these new releases, the Gallule is restrained and understated. Sweet red cherry, spice, rose petal and mint give the wine its bright, nuanced personality. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
