Umbria At a Glance
Region NameUmbria
Bordering on Tuscany and right above Rome is the lesser-known and lesser-traveled region of Umbria. Without access to either the sea or international borders, it is affectionately referred to as the “green heart of Italy.”
Score: 90Vintage 2021Vinous MediaDusty and floral in character, the 2021 Rosso Sinuoso lifts from the glass with nuances of cedar, stone dust and crushed violet candies. This is soft and fleshy on the palate, with ultra-ripe red and blue fruits energized by bright acidity. Grippy tannins tug at the cheeks even as the 2021 finishes remarkably fresh, leaving a pleasant mix of chalky minerals and sweet spice to linger. The Sinuoso is a fun and stylish blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Montepulciano that I’m finding very easy to like.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review

Score: 91Vintage 2019Vinous MediaDark florals, brown spice, black cherries and hints of sage form an alluring bouquet as the 2019 Sinuoso opens up in the glass. It’s soft and pliant in feel, with masses of ripe red and black berry fruits tinged with saline-minerals, and sweet violet florals that form toward the close. Fine tannins come forward, framing the experience nicely, as notes of plum and lavender slowly fade. The 2019 Sinuoso may already be quite enjoyable, but it’s also packed full of medium-term cellar potential. This is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Montepulciano.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
