Region Name Umbria

Bordering on Tuscany and right above Rome is the lesser-known and lesser-traveled region of Umbria.  Without access to either the sea or international borders, it is affectionately referred to as the “green heart of Italy.”

  • Score: 90 Vintage 2021 Vinous Media Dusty and floral in character, the 2021 Rosso Sinuoso lifts from the glass with nuances of cedar, stone dust and crushed violet candies. This is soft and fleshy on the palate, with ultra-ripe red and blue fruits energized by bright acidity. Grippy tannins tug at the cheeks even as the 2021 finishes remarkably fresh, leaving a pleasant mix of chalky minerals and sweet spice to linger. The Sinuoso is a fun and stylish blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Montepulciano that I’m finding very easy to like. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 89 Vintage 2021 Wine Enthusiast Vibrant notes of wild berries, plums, and Mediterranean herbs dominate the aromatic profile. The palate offers a medley of ripe fruit flavors, framed by a smooth texture and a lively, well-balanced finish. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 91 Vintage 2019 Vinous Media Dark florals, brown spice, black cherries and hints of sage form an alluring bouquet as the 2019 Sinuoso opens up in the glass. It’s soft and pliant in feel, with masses of ripe red and black berry fruits tinged with saline-minerals, and sweet violet florals that form toward the close. Fine tannins come forward, framing the experience nicely, as notes of plum and lavender slowly fade. The 2019 Sinuoso may already be quite enjoyable, but it’s also packed full of medium-term cellar potential. This is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Montepulciano. • Score: 90 Vintage 2018 Vinous Media The 2018 Sinuoso lifts up with a rich display of raspberry preserves, plum sauce and sage. It’s silky in texture, washing ripe red and blue fruits across a core of juicy acidity. A twang of minerality and sweet tannins linger, creating a lightly structured yet pleasantly dry expression, as a hint of tobacco slowly fades. The Sinuoso is a very likable blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Montepulciano. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 88 Vintage 2018 Wine Spectator An aromatic red, featuring candied raspberry, caraway seed, dried thyme and baked plum flavors. Round and medium-bodied, with a supple frame of light tannins that firm the fresh, smoke-laced finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Montepulciano. Drink now through 2022. 550 cases made, 50 cases imported. –AN Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 88 Vintage 2017 Wine Enthusiast Made with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Montepulciano, this opens with aromas of sunbaked earth, cassis and dark spice. The aromas carry over to the juicy, straightforward palate along with a hint of crushed sage and powdered tannins. KERIN O’KEEFE Shelf Talker Full Page Review
