Sicily At a Glance
Region Name Sicily
Sicily is Italy’s southernmost region and the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. For more than 2500 years, Sicily (Sicilia in Italian) has been a significant center of Mediterranean viniculture, although the reputation and style of its wines have changed significantly over that time.

- Score: 88 Vintage 2016 Wine Enthusiast This blend of organically grown Nero d'Avola and Perricone opens with aromas of dark berry, underbrush and baking spice. The chewy, easy-drinking palate offers black cherry, vanilla and tobacco alongside round tannins. Drink soon. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
- Score: 87 Vintage 2016 Vinous Media Rich notes of mocha, coffee grounds and dark chocolate rise from the 2016 Nero d’Avola-Perricone Nivuro. This is soft and sweet on the palate, displaying nervous acidity that works to maintain balance as grippy tannins slowly settle in. Its overripe black fruits carry through into the finish, which is long and youthfully structured, showing a bitter twist of sour citrus. The Nivuro will have its fans, but I find it to be lacking in balance, with an oak influence that only adds insult to injury. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
