Score: 96Vintage 2021The Wine Advocate Made with organic Sangiovese grapes grown in Panzano on a mix of pietraforte soils and clay, the Gagliole 2021 Gagliole shows perfumed intensity with a combination of cherry, forest berry and wild violet or mountain flower. There is an earthy component that is very clean in nature and recalls garden soil with fresh organic matter. That note transforms into a pristine mineral note of crushed rock as the wine opens carefully in the glass. This IGT red offers a lot of character and is one of my favorite samples in this group of new releases from Gagliole. Production is 13,000 bottles.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review

Rich, powerful and explosive, the 2021 caputres all the natural radiance of this sector in Chianti Classico. Sumptuos red cherry fruit, blood orange, spice, menthol and rose petal build as this luscious, racy Sangiovese shows off all it has to offer.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review

This red is backed by a lively structure, including a light dusting of tannins that gather steam on the finish. Drink now through 2030. 660 cases made, 180 cases imported.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review

All the elements are so well balanced. Cedar, pipe tobacco, mint, dried flowers and mocha all build as the 2020 shows off its class. Pretty floral and saline accents extend the finish.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 95Vintage 2020Wine AdvocateThis is a very special organic wine made exclusively with Sangiovese from Panzano in Chianti from 15- to 30-year-old vines. Compared to the other releases in this portfolio, the Gagliole 2020 Gagliole delivers the goods up front with immediate fruit intensity and aromas of ripe cherry and blackberry. This wine sports a bright and lively personality with a soft texture and pretty layers of sweet fruit. You get a lot of good food-pairing potential out of this bottle, whether it be with grilled meat or pasta. Exactly 5,748 bottles were made.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 95Vintage 2020James Suckling MagazineThis is complex with aromas of ripe black cherries, blackberries, dried spicy herbs, cedar, graphite and seashells. Full-bodied, firm and structured with finely polished, well-integrated tannins that keep building on the palate, framing the deep dark fruit and pushing the length of the wine. An array of pure fruit, spices and minerals on the palate. Very attractive and pristine. Tense and balanced. From organically grown grapes. Better from 2026.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 96Vintage 2019James Suckling MagazineLovely black-cherry, smoked-meat and cedar aromas follow through to a full body with lots of fruit and powerful tannins with polish and focus. Racy and solid. Umami. Pure sangiovese from Panzano. From organically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but best from 2024.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 94Vintage 2019Vinous MediaThe 2019 Gagliole is 100% Sangiovese from estate vineyards in Panzano. The natural richness of Panzano and extra kick of new French oak yields a wine of volume and textural intensity. Succulent dark cherry, plum, tobacco, incense, mocha, sweet oak, mint and dried flowers are front and center. There's plenty of immediacy here. I have a slight preference for the more refined expression of Sangiovese found in the Gallule. The 2019 spent 12 months in French oak, 25-30% new, then another 12 months in 12HL casks and cement, 50% each.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 95Vintage 2018Wine AdvocateHere's an under-the-radar classic from Tuscany that has been in production since 1993. The wine has evolved over the years, and a small part of Cabernet Sauvignon once used in the blend has been removed to favor 100% Sangiovese, starting with this vintage. The 2018 Gagliole sees all its fruit coming from Panzano from a high-density site with schistous galestro soils 450 to 500 meters in elevation. You will recognize pretty mineral notes with crushed stone, dark fruit, spice and grilled herb. The mineral note is terrific, and the wine has a vertical feel, with elegant uplift from the smooth tannins.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 95Vintage 2018James Suckling MagazineThis is extremely perfumed with black cherries, purple fruit and cedar. Some lavender, too. Medium-to full-bodied with firm, polished tannins and a beautiful finish. Needs time to soften, but already very beautiful. Drink after 2023.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 95Vintage 2018James SucklingAn attractive, velvety red with dark berries and chocolate. There’s a hint of vanilla, but not too much. Full-bodied with wonderful depth and intensity.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 94Vintage 2018Vinous MediaThe 2018 Gagliole is 100% Sangiovese from vineyards in Panzano. Rich and layered in the glass, the 2018 is a wine of tremendous character and personality. It offers an intriguing mix of power and energy, with notable aromatic presence and tons of personality. Gravel, leather, tobacco and dried herbs build into the substantial finish. This is an especially wild expression of Sangiovese.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 95Vintage 2017Vinous MediaThe 2017 Gagliole is a wine of pure and total seduction that really captures the essence of the house style today. Freshly cut flowers, red berry fruit, mint, spice and rose petal give the 2017 striking aromatic intensity to play off its mid-weight personality. The natural richness and radiance of Panzano come through, but those elements are tempered by what is a super-classic style. In a word: impressive.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 93Vintage 2017James SucklingTangy and fresh with a berry, cherry and lemon character. Some smoke and tea. Medium to full body with fine tannins. A blend of 98% sangiovese and 2% cabernet sauvignon.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 91Vintage 2017Wine SpectatorOffers an immediate impression of fruit, but this is also delicate, with a graceful frame that belies the solid backbone of tannins on the finish. Balanced, needing time to knit together. Wild herb, iron and tobacco notes accent the aftertaste. Sangiovese and Merlot. Drink now through 2027. 666 cases made, 75 cases imported.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 95Vintage 2016Wine AdvocateThis winery is headquartered in Castellina in Chianti, although the Sangiovese used in the 2016 Gagliole actually comes from the sun-kissed Conca d'Oro vineyard in Panzano in Chianti. This expression offers depth and delicate fiinesse, showing a long succession of small berry fruits, cassis and wild rose. The mouthfeel reveals balanced touches of acidity, power, structure and concentration. Indeed, these are the elements of a classic vintage and a classic Tuscan redShelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 93Vintage 2016James SucklingAttractive aromas of crushed berries with hints of flowers. Medium to full body. Firm and chewy tannins and a fresh finish. Toasted oak showing. Age will pull this together. Try after 2021.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 90Vintage 2016Vinous MediaThe 2016 Gagliole is Sangiovese and a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon from vineyards in Panzano. Medium in body, perfumed and silky, Gagliole is a decidedly lithe, understated wine in 2016 that appears to be holding back much of its potential. There is good structure underneath. Hopefully the wine will come together a bit more with time in bottle. The 2016 spent 18 months in French oak barriques, 20% new.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 94Vintage 2015Vinous MediaThe 2015 Gagliole Rosso emerges exclusively from estate vineyards in Panzano. Rich, ample and beautifully resonant on the palate, the 2015 expresses all the natural breadth and texture that is so typical of the wines of Panzano. Dark cherry, plum, lavender, spice and menthol build into the huge, creamy finish. The 2015 is sensual, rich and super-inviting. It spent 18 months in French oak, 20% new.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 89Vintage 2014Wine EnthusiastThis blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of French oak, tobacco and roasted coffee bean. The dense palate offers black-cherry jam, vanilla and clove alongside assertive tannins. KERIN O’KEEFEShelf TalkerFull Page Review
