• Score: 92 Vintage 2019 Vinous Media Dusty and floral, the 2019 Rosso Ludi opens in the glass with a blend of musky black currants, plums, a dusting of cocoa and crushed violets. This is velvety and undeniably elegant with a burst of zesty acidity and citrus-tinged wild berry fruits that excite the senses. The Ludi finishes incredibly long and lightly structured with a staining of primary concentration as hints of blueberry and licorice linger on. This is a beautiful example of Offida Montepulciano, complemented by a dollop of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, along with a deft use of new French oak. • Score: 86 Vintage 2018 Wine Advocate Packaged in an exceptionally heavy and environmentally unfriendly glass bottle, the Velenosi 2018 Offida Rosso Ludi is a blend of Montepulciano, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot that reveals super rich concentration and extraction. It reveals an inky black appearance with bitter tannins, lots of blackberry confit, cinnamon and toasted clove. Oak spice drives this massive wine. It closes with ripe fruit and astringency. The Velenosi 2015 Offida Rosso Ludi is a wine of considerable brawn and power. It delivers thick texture that wraps heavily over the palate, with the spice, smoke and tobacco of 18 months in new barrique.
