Score: 92Vintage 2019James SucklingAromas of plums, black cherries, blackberries, tomato leaf, dried herb and spice box. Medium-to full-bodied with firm, polished tannins. Rich and fleshy on the palate with a lots of black fruit. Flavorful finish. Try from 2023.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 91Vintage 2019Wine EnthusiastThe nose on this wine has the quiet elegance and confidence that usually takes more age to realize. It gives aromas of leather, graphite, sandalwood and pepper before nutmeg, dried currants and other spices and dried fruits come through. The palate is energized with an iron-rich current of raw meat and bricks, lifted by a sizzle of acid and heat. Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 90Vintage 2019Wine SpectatorThere's depth to the concentrated black cherry and blackberry fruit, shaded by vanilla, earth and graphite notes. Dense and muscular, with a long finish. Sangioveto, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2023 through 2028. 15,000 cases made, 7,000 cases imported.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 92Vintage 2018Vinous MediaThe 2018 Le Sughere di Frassinello is laced with crushed flowers, mint, spice and red berry fruit. Aromatic and light on its feet, the Sughere is quite pretty in 2018. I would give it a year or so in bottle to soften, as the finish is a bit tight today.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 92Vintage 2018James SucklingBlackberries and deep blackcurrants, under a surface layer of mild spice. Medium-to full-bodied with fine, fruit and spice-coated tannins and a long finish. A little chewy now. Needs a couple of years to soften. Drink in 2022.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 89Vintage 2018Wine SpectatorThere's plenty of Sangiovese character in this red, by way of cherry, strawberry, iron, earth and tobacco flavors. This is supple and firmly structured, with a dusting of tannins on the bright finish. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Drink now through 2024. 15,000 cases made, 7,000 cases imported.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 92Vintage 2017James SucklingA bold, spicy wine that shows dried oregano, burnt blackberries, tar and incense. Despite the initial heady impression, the palate is finely woven and precise, framing grainy tannins. Nevertheless, the finish is quite robust and decadent. Drink from 2021.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 92Vintage 2017Wine SpectatorTar, pine resin and eucalyptus aromas are countered by massive blackberry and black currant fruit in this complex, assertive red, with a generous dose of toasty oak. Beefy tannins match the fruit but sit apart for now. Try now for a ride on the wild side, or age short-term. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best from 2020 through 2026. 11,000 cases made.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review

Score: 93Vintage 2016Wine SpectatorWild rosemary, thyme and camphor aromas lead off, with concentrated flavors of blackberry and black currant. An iron edge sinks in as this unfolds to the long, staining finish. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best from 2020 through 2032. 11,000 cases made, 5,500 cases imported.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 90Vintage 2016Vinous MediaThe 2016 Le Sughere di Frassinello is laced with bright red cherry, plum, white chocolate and floral notes. Medium in body and gracious, Le Sughere is quite pretty in 2016. The new oak needs time to fully assimilate. Otherwise, this is very nicely done. Time in the glass helps the wine come together. Le Sughere is 50% Sangioveto, 25% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, but it is the red-toned fruit of the Sangioveto (Sangiovese) that is particularly expressive today.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
