Marenco

Overview

Estate

Marenco is a historic family winery in Strevi, in the heart of the Monferrato region of Piemonte. Founded in the 1920s, the estate is internationally recognized for its dedication to Moscato and other aromatic varieties, producing wines that express the territory's elegance, freshness, and convivial spirit.

Climate

The vineyards benefit from a temperate continental climate with warm summers, cool nights, and good ventilation. These conditions are ideal for preserving the grapes' aromatic intensity, acidity, and freshness.

Soil

The soils are predominantly calcareous and clay-rich, with sandy components typical of the Monferrato hills. These formations impart balance, minerality, and aromatic finesse to the wines.

Vineyards

The estate vineyards are located on rolling hills around Strevi and nearby villages in Monferrato. Marenco primarily cultivates Moscato Bianco alongside Brachetto, Chardonnay, and Barbera, emphasizing low yields and healthy fruit.

Cultivation

Viticulture is practiced sustainably to preserve biodiversity and the natural balance of vineyards. Vineyard work is largely manual, with careful canopy management and selective harvesting.

Winery

The winery combines historic family tradition with modern winemaking technology. Great attention is paid to preserving varietal aromas and freshness through temperature-controlled fermentations and precise cellar management.

Family

The Marenco winery is today led by the three Marenco sisters, Patrizia, Doretta, and Michela, who carry on the family tradition with passion and a modern vision deeply rooted in the Monferrato region. Michela’s son, Andrea, oversees international markets.

Winemaker

Patrizia Marenco is one of the winery's key figures and personally oversees its production philosophy. Her approach focuses on enhancing the aromatic purity, freshness, and elegance of Moscato and native grape varieties, preserving the authentic identity of Monferrato wines through precise, careful winemaking.

Focus Point

• Historic family winery founded in the 1920s. • Strong specialization in Moscato and other aromatic varieties. • Women-led winery. • Woman winemaker.
