Purato is a Sicilian wine brand created by The Wine People (TWP), with wines made from organically farmed vineyards in the Trapani area, north of Marsala, in western Sicily. The brand presents itself as focused on organic and regenerative viticulture, as well as sustainable production.
Soil
Terra Rossa is a light red, sandy loam over a limestone base and is said to help retain water. The combination of soil, sunshine, and sea breezes is presented as supporting balanced ripening and concentration.
Cultivation
Pioneer of regenerative organic viticulture. Purato has been certified organic by Bioagricert since 2009 and 100% vegan since 2015: Equalitas sustainability certification, organic production, and sustainable packaging. The vines are trained using the traditional Spalliera system.
Family
Purato is part of The Wine People, founded by Stefano Girelli in 2009. Stefano is from a third-generation winemaking family with more than 35 years of experience in the wine business.
