Revana

Overview
Estate
Revana Estate is the first winegrowing estate established by Dr. Madaiah Revana. He purchased the St. Helena property in 1997, initially acquiring 11 acres in two parcels and developing the vineyard from raw land. The first Cabernet Sauvignon vintage was 2001. The estate is now centered on an approximately 8.2-acre vineyard in the narrowest section of Napa Valley, with the winery and hospitality property on St. Helena Highway. The estate is part of Dr. Revana’s broader winegrowing portfolio, which also includes Alexana in Oregon and Corazón del Sol in Argentina.
Climate
Revana Estate lies in the St. Helena AVA in the northern Napa Valley, between the Vaca and Mayacamas mountain ranges. The site experiences warm days and cool nights, conditions that support Cabernet Sauvignon ripening while retaining freshness. The broader portfolio also includes fruit from nested Napa Valley AVAs with distinct mesoclimates, including Rutherford, Stags Leap District, Howell Mountain, Oakville, and Oak Knoll.
Vineyards
The Revana Estate Vineyard is approximately 8.2 acres and is divided into individual blocks. Beyond the estate vineyard, Revana produces site-specific Cabernet Sauvignon from selected Napa Valley sites including Round Pond Vineyard in Rutherford, Cold Springs Vineyard on Howell Mountain, Steltzner Vineyard in Stags Leap District, Shifflett Ranch in Oak Knoll, Weitz Vineyard in Oakville and Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard.
Cultivation
The vineyard is organically farmed, and each wine is produced in accordance with sustainable or organic farming standards. The estate vineyard is hand-harvested, and the fruit is carefully sorted. Vineyard Manager Jim Barbour has worked with Dr. Revana since the property was planted and oversees the vineyard program.
Winery
Revana specializes in small-lot Cabernet Sauvignon designed to express individual vineyard sites. Estate Cabernet is hand harvested, whole clusters are sorted, clusters are gently destemmed, and berries are optically sorted before fermentation
Family
Dr. Madaiah Revana founded Revana Estate. His upbringing on a family farm in India strongly influenced his interest in agriculture and winegrowing. He later became a cardiologist in the United States and developed his wine project from a desire to learn grape growing from the ground up. The name Revana represents his family identity and the estate he developed in Napa Valley.
Winemaker
Rose Ballantine is the current Winemaker for Revana, promoted to the position in 2025 after joining the broader Revana organization through Alexana in 2021. Thomas Rivers Brown remains Consulting Winemaker and has been closely associated with Revana's Cabernet program since taking over the winemaking from Heidi Barrett in 2011. Jim Barbour is Vineyard Manager.
