Vega de Yuso

Overview
Estate
Bodegas y Viñedos Vega de Yuso is a family winery in Quintanilla de Onésimo, Valladolid, in the “Milla de Oro” of the Ribera del Duero. The project was founded in 2002 by Rubén Iglesias, an agricultural engineer and oenologist, with the support of his wife, Mónica Medrano. The winery focuses exclusively on Tinta Fina / Tempranillo and produces wines under the D.O. Ribera del Duero.
Climate
The vineyards are located in the Ribera del Duero, around Quintanilla de Onésimo, Olivares de Duero, and Valbuena de Duero, with some parcels reaching elevations of approximately 2,953 feet. The altitude contributes to the marked day-night temperature differences characteristic of the area and supports slow, balanced ripening of Tempranillo.
Vineyards
Vega de Yuso farms approximately 20 hectares of Tempranillo. The vineyards are located in Quintanilla de Onésimo, Olivares de Duero, and Valbuena de Duero, ranging from younger vines to parcels over 55 years old. The wines are made exclusively from Tinta Fina / Tempranillo.
Winery
The winery, established in 2002 in Quintanilla de Onésimo, combines a young, modern identity with the family's agricultural history. Wines undergo stainless-steel fermentation before barrel aging, depending on the cuvée.
Family
Vega de Yuso grew out of the agricultural backgrounds of Rubén Iglesias and the Medrano Martín family. The family had planted its first vines in 1940 and had been selling grapes to established Ribera del Duero wineries since 1985 before creating Vega de Yuso as its own winery in 2002. Rubén Iglesias and his family continue to be central to the project.
Winemaker
Rubén Iglesias is the founder, owner-manager, and oenologist of Vega de Yuso. He trained as an Agricultural Technical Engineer and holds a Master's degree in Enology. His work focuses on expressing Ribera del Duero through Tinta Fina/Tempranillo and by selecting vineyards of different ages and individual parcels.
