Baricci

Overview
Estate
Founded in 1955 by Nello Baricci, a founding member of the Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino. The estate lies entirely on the Montosoli hill, one of Montalcino’s most historic and celebrated crus.
Climate
Montosoli benefits from constant ventilation, significant diurnal temperature variation, and a cooler northern exposure, enabling slow, balanced ripening and remarkable aromatic precision.
Soil
A complex mix of galestro, marl, limestone, and fossil-rich marine sediments. These soils contribute to the elegance, minerality, and longevity that are hallmarks of Montosoli wines.
Vineyards
Around 5 hectares of Sangiovese vineyards are located exclusively within the Montosoli cru. Few producers can claim such a strong single-vineyard identity.
Cultivation
Meticulous vineyard work, low yields, and manual harvesting are intended to preserve the character of both Sangiovese and the Montosoli terroir.
Winery
Traditional winemaking with long macerations and aging in large Slavonian oak casks, favoring finesse and terroir expression over extraction.
Family
Today, the estate is managed by Federico and Francesco Buffi, grandsons of Nello Baricci, who carry on the family’s commitment to Montosoli.
Winemaker
Winemaking is directed by Federico Buffi, guided by a philosophy centered on purity of fruit, vineyard expression, and traditional Brunello style.
