Score: 95Vintage 2022Vinous MediaThe 2022 Barolo Villero is powerful and expansive on the palate. Macerated cherry, spice, leather, tobacco, incense, licorice and dried herbs flesh out in the glass. A Barolo of breadth, the 2022 marries power with finesse. The tannins, always an issue with Villero, are remarkably polished. Deeply pitched spice and mentholated notes resonate on the close.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 97Vintage 2021The Wine Advocate The Poderi Luigi Einaudi 2021 Barolo Villero (with fruit from Castiglione Falletto) has an ashy or mineral layer that follows to blackcurrant and dried cherry. That elegant mineral note is what distinguishes this extremely vertical, razor-sharp Nebbiolo. Medium-plus texture follows through with good power on the palate thanks to the precision and firmness of the tannins.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 96Vintage 2021Kerin O KeefeFull-bodied and fragrant, the 2021 Villero from Poderi Luigi Einaudi is a fantastic showing, starting with its pronounced aromas of camphor, fine pipe tobacco and ripe berry. Youthfully austere but already delicious, it has great fruit flavors of crunchy red berry, raspberry and blood orange accented by dried mint and star anise. Firm, fine-grained tannins and bright acidity keep it balanced and loaded with energy. Drink 2031–2046.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 95Vintage 2021Wine EnthusiastFrom vines planted in 1969 comes a wine that shows why patience matters. Ripe raspberries and pomegranate notes create the opening movement, then florals and minerals join the symphony. The palate delivers real gravitas without heaviness, showing both the power of place and the evolution of a great producer. This will age gracefully for decades but it’s hard to resist right now. Drink from 2027.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 95Vintage 2021Jeb Dunnuck Taking things to the next level, the 2021 Barolo Villero also shows a bright red hue, with a touch more pigment than the Monvigliero, and reveals more intensity on the nose, with notes of sweet cedar, wild raspberries, lifted anise, and dried apricot. The palate is fantastic, with an even, detailed structure and medium body, and it offers lovely clarity in its bright red fruit, well-defined, ripe tannins, refreshing, even acidity, and a gracefully long, even finish. This gorgeous wine is truly a pleasure to taste now, and it will have the bones to improve and last over the coming two decades.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review

Score: 94Vintage 2020Wine AdvocateThe Poderi Luigi Einaudi 2020 Barolo Villero shows signs of the hot growing season with ripe aromas of blackcurrant, dried tobacco leaf, rusty nail and bouillon cube in silver foil. The wine shows nice complexity, and the tannins are young but ripe from a phenolic perspective. There is sweet fruit, but ultimately, the Villero requires more bottle age. Only 3,300 bottles were made.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 93Vintage 2020Vinous MediaJust bottled, the 2020 Barolo Villero presents gorgeous spice, leather and savory notes. Fruit lies more in the background, as is often the case with wines from this cru. The 2020 shows good depth and plenty of persistence, both of which should help it develop nicely over the coming years. This has real grip, especially on the finish.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
