Score: 93Vintage 2020James SucklingA crisp and fruity Brunello for this hot vintage, with vivid acidity and fine tannins. Medium-bodied, integrated and focused. Yet, it needs another two or three years to come together. Best after 2027.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 92Vintage 2020Jeb Dunnuck The 2020 Brunello Di Montalcino is a transparent bright red color and is ripe with aromas of strawberry preserve, candied flowers, sweet herbs, and mossy earth. Medium-framed, it's vibrant on the palate, with a linear feel, fine tannins, and bright acidity, leading with notes of orange citrus through a rather long finish and a touch of warmth. It retains good purity and energy and is very well-balanced. Drink 2026-2040.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 93Vintage 2019Wine SpectatorThe fruit is on the darker side for the vintage, evoking black cherry, blackberry and dark plum flavors, while earth and wild herb accents add detail. Tightly knit tannins quickly intervene, leaving a compact, powdery feel on the finish. Best from 2027 through 2043.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 92Vintage 2019Wine AdvocateThe Camigliano 2019 Brunello di Montalcino offers a combination of dark fruit, ripe blackberry and toasted cardamom or cumin seed from 24 months of aging in large oak casks. This organic wine shows lots of rich concentration and oak-driven intensity that fits within the context of classic Brunello. Ultimately, the wine mirrors a warm growing area with a mix of clay, sand and rocky soils. It delivers easy texture on the mid-palate with chalky tannins. This is a big release of 190,000 bottles.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 92Vintage 2019James Suckling MagazineLots of dried fruit, such as of figs, dried plums and savory herbs, followed by lingering dried-meat and sweet-and-sour undertones. Medium-bodied with polished tannins. A slightly nutty aftertaste. From organically grown grapes. Drink now or hold.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 90Vintage 2019Vinous MediaThe 2019 Brunello di Montalcino wafts up with a pretty bouquet of dried roses and strawberries complicated by Tuscan dust. This is silky-smooth and polished in feel with ripe red berries that flow across a stream of brisk acidity. Orange and cedar linger as the 2019 finishes gently tannic with a pleasantly bitter tinge.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 94Vintage 2018Wine EnthusiastThe nose offers cherries, vanilla and toasted coconut over aromas of leather, flint and currants. On the palate, blackberries and dried cranberries emphasize more cherries, while dusty tannins swim in a thick undertow of chocolate and sambuca. Vibrant acidity sets up a long, warm finish. Score: 92Vintage 2018Wine SpectatorRipe and opulent, boasting macerated cherry, plum, eucalyptus and iron flavors matched to a muscular structure. Shows beefy tannins that take over on the finish, yet this feels balanced, with a beam of cherry persisting through the conclusion. Best from 2026 through 2043. 16,000 cases made, 3,250 cases imported.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 92Vintage 2018James SucklingA ripe and full-bodied Brunello with intense notes of cassis, stewed plums and kalamata olives. Some grilled herbs, too. Broad and creamy tannins with plenty of rich fruit. A little one-dimensional but concentrated and flavorful. From organically grown grapes. Drink after 2023.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 91Vintage 2018Wine AdvocateA certified organic wine, the Camigliano 2018 Brunello di Montalcino is medium dark in appearance with round and ripe aromas of cherry confit, blackberry tart, black rose and balsam herb. The wine is textured and rich; however, the alcohol is too high at 15%. That power takes away from the long-term potential of delicate Sangiovese and places the grape into a near or medium-term drinking window instead. The wine aged in large oak casks for 24 months, resulting in a generous production of 190,000 bottles.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 91Vintage 2018Vinous MediaThere’s an almost-candied quality to the bouquet of the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino, as sweet rose and medicinal cherry give way to nuances of shaved cedar and pine. This is a mid-weight and gracious Sangiovese, with bright acidity that adds an almost-juicy character within. Hints of strawberry and minty herbs resonate, as this finishes only lightly structured, yet with admirable length. While I wouldn’t suggest long-term cellaring, expect the 2018 to show beautifully after only a few years' time.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 92Vintage 2017Wine SpectatorThis red is hallmarked by a bright beam of cherry, strawberry, floral, earth and menthol flavors, with an elegant profile giving way to dense tannins as this winds down on the finish. Fine balance. Best from 2025 through 2040. 14,000 cases made, 3,250 cases imported.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 92Vintage 2017James SucklingA red that shows the ripeness and richness of the vintage, with plum, berry and lightly dried fruit. Some cedar and vanilla, too. Full-bodied with polished tannins. A juicy and rich wine. Drink or hold.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 91Vintage 2017Wine EnthusiastThis opens with aromas of eucalyptus oil, blue flower and roasted coffee bean. The savory, fullbodied palate offers fruitcake, cherry marinated in spirits and licorice before firm, close-grained tannins sneak up toward the end and leave a grippy, drying finish. Give the tannins a few years to unfurl, then drink sooner rather than later.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 89Vintage 2017Wine AdvocateCamigliano is an incredible property with a beautiful castle perched on a hill with commanding views of the entire southern half of the Montalcino appellation. It enjoys a special quality of light and lots of open panoramic spaces. The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino is redolent of cherry cola, and the wine has an especially herbal or menthol note that is a bit monotone in this dry and hot growing season. It registers 15% alcohol and stemmy tannins. This is a punchy, unusual and somewhat quirky Brunello (with 170,000 bottles released).
Camigliano has completed its conversion over to organic farming, and the wines from the 2017 vintage should already fall under organic protocols (although I didn't yet notice a seal of certification on the sample bottles I received).Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 89Vintage 2017Vinous MediaThe 2017 Brunello di Montalcino is dusty and pretty in character, mixing dried flowers and incense with crushed strawberries. Its fleshy textures wash across the palate with masses of ripe red berries and sweet spices, yet the expression remains nicely balanced throughout. This is lightly structured yet long, leaving nuances of licorice and clove to linger on. The 2017 is showing very well already, but it doesn’t have much in the way of cellar potential.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 92Vintage 2016Wine SpectatorBlack currant, raspberry and boysenberry flavors are shaded by woodsy, wild herb, menthol and graphite notes in this distinctive red. Expressive, if not the harmony of its peers, shows some fierce tannins flexing their muscles on the chewy, astringent finish. Best from 2025 through 2042. 12,500 cases made, 3,000 cases imported.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 89Vintage 2016Vinous MediaThe 2016 Camigliano Brunello di Montalcino leads off with a slightly herbal and stemmy character, which over time blends with notes of woodland berries and moist soil tones. It’s soft and fleshy with intensely sweet medicinal cherry and spice contrasted by zippy acids and a hint of sour citrus. This finishes gently tannic and leaning more toward the dark fruit spectrum, where blackberry mixes with notes of tobacco. There is a rusticity here that’s not for everyone. In the end, it’s a Brunello to enjoy sooner rather than later.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 94Vintage 2015Wine AdvocateThe Camigliano 2015 Brunello di Montalcino sees fruit from a 50-hectare vineyard planted 300 to 350 meters above sea level. The soils show lots of variation with clay, sand, rock and marine fossils. The wine's bouquet reveals classic Brunello characteristics of wild berry, forest floor, pressed rose petal, crushed stone and spice. You also get those typical balsam and herbal tones that are so specific to Montalcino. In fact, I argue that they come across with even more intensity in a beautifully balanced and sunny vintage such as 2015. This wine ages in 60-hectoliter botti for 24 months, making for a firm yet surprisingly streamlined mouthfeel.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 94Vintage 2015James SucklingA bright and elegant Brunello that suggests sliced oranges, tulips and rose petals. Medium-to full-bodied and finely structured, drawing on silky layers of tannins and a vibrant edge of acidity. Drink now or hold.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 93Vintage 2015Wine SpectatorA focused, lively red, this exhibits cherry, strawberry, earth, mineral and Mediterranean herb flavors. Dense, staying fresh as this unwinds on the lingering aftertaste. Best from 2023 through 2042. 12,500 cases made, 2,500 cases imported.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review

Score: 91Vintage 2015Vinous MediaModerately saturated medium red. Strawberry, honey and flint on the nose and palate. Then fairly steely in the mouth, but boasting nice concentration and an appealing sweetness. Finishes broad and smooth, but I would have liked a little more length for an even higher score.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 88Vintage 2015Wine EnthusiastAfter a few swirls of the glass, the nose suggests wild berry, cured tobacco leaf and a whiff of violet. The straightforward palate shows juicy sour cherry, cranberry and clove set against fine-grained tannins. Drink after 2022.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review

Score: 90Vintage 2014Wine SpectatorOverall, this red is balanced, with cherry, plum, iron and earth notes forming a ripe, sweet center to offset the solid, dusty tannins. Finishes with freshness and a lingering element of fruit. Best from 2022 through 2040. 375 cases imported. –BSShelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 89Vintage 2014Wine AdvocateThe Camigliano 2014 Brunello di Montalcino pours from the bottle with a lean ruby appearance. The wine offers mild aromas of forest fruit, wild cherry, bitter almond and grilled herb. Like other wines from this challenging vintage, this expression does not show the intensity or the depth that you get in the more balanced vintages. You do get attractive freshness for easy, near and medium-term drinking. There is a stern point of tannic bitterness on the close that may never fully integrate.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 88Vintage 2014Wine EnthusiastUnderbrush, leather, violet and wild-berry aromas slowly take shape on this. The tight, taut palate is on the lean side, offering cranberry, licorice and espresso alongside assertive close-grained tannins that grip the finish. Give the tannins a few years to unclench then drink sooner rather than later. KERIN O’KEEFEShelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 87Vintage 2014Vinous MediaDeep ruby; this strikes me as being darker than most 2014 Brunellos I tried this year. Aromas of graphite and flint also give a dark quality to the black cherry and cassis aromas and flavors. Finishes long and clean, with decent grain to the tannins, but this does not strike me as an especially successful or even typical wine from Montalcino. Camigliano’s classic Brunello has been much better than this in recent years.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 92Vintage 2013Wine and SpiritsNotes of fresh mushroom and smoky eggplant mingle with this wine’s dark cherry and plum fruit, balancing the mouthwatering acidity and orange-peel high notes. The flavors hold together nicely, developing notes of fried sage on the brisk finish.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 92Vintage 2004James SucklingLots of mushrooms, dark berries, plums and fresh leather. Full-bodied with chewy and dusty tannins. Powerful richness. Drink or hold.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
