Score: 91Vintage 2021VinousThe 2021 Chianti Classico is an elegant, gracious wine. Crushed flowers, bright red-toned fruit, tobacco, cinnamon and dried flowers all take shape in a decidedly delicate, understated wine from Rampolla. A model of elegance and finesse, the 2021 is showing beautifully today. There is perhaps just a touch of VA in the bouquet, but it is not especially evident. The blend is 80% Sangiovese, 16% Merlot and a dollop of Cabernet Sauvignon. The Sangiovese was aged in cask, while the French varieties were raised in smaller French barrels.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 93Vintage 2020Wine AdvocateThe 2020 Chianti Classico is Sangiovese with small parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. This is a lovely wine with a level of punchiness, brightness and inner energy that is never easy to achieve, especially in a warm vintage such as this. That's the Panzano magic, enhanced in this case by the estate's non-interventionist winemaking philosophy. You'll love to drink this entry-level wine no matter what your personal preference in Sangiovese style. Production is 31,373 bottles.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 93Vintage 2020James SucklingA classic Chianti Classico with plums, strawberries and peaches on the nose and palate. Medium-bodied with very fine tannins and a long, linear finish with brightness and focus. Juicy finish. Drinkable now, but even better in a year or two.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 91Vintage 2020Vinous MediaThe 2020 Chianti Classico is brilliant. Vibrant and deep, with striking inner perfume, the 2020 dazzles with gorgeous inner aromas and fine balance. There's good depth and texture, but perhaps not quite the excitement of the best years. April was especially challenging for Sangiovese, which lowered yields considerably.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 95Vintage 2019James SucklingThis is a fantastic Chianti Classico with so much complexity and intensity. Cherry, chocolate, hazelnut and wet earth with some black truffle. It’s medium-bodied with depth of fruit and fantastic texture and length. Don’t miss this. Sangiovese, cabernet sauvignon and merlot. Unfiltered. Very drinkable now, but one for the cellar.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review

Score: 92Vintage 2018Wine AdvocateThe Castello dei Rampolla 2018 Chianti Classico shows some softness and extra ripeness with dark fruit and plum followed by savory smoke and spice. This wine is an expression of the one and only Panzano in Chianti, a promising subzone in the larger Chianti Classico appellation with panoramic views awash in soft golden light at the end of each glorious day. To the palate, the wine delivers rich, mid-weight intensity with more textured and succulent flavors to follow. This wine is just lovely, especially when tasted right out of the gate when those cherry and blackberry tones are at their brightest.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review

Score: 88Vintage 2017Wine AdvocateThe 2017 Chianti Classico is a tad too ripe for my tastes. You taste the heat of the vintage in those aromas of blackberry preserves and strawberry jam. Background notes of apricot and candied orange peel add to that characteristic hot vintage bouquet. I would suggest a near-term drinking window as a result.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review

Score: 91Vintage 2016Wine and SpiritsOne of our tasting- panel members called this “a great natural wine to show someone who doesn’t drink natural wine.†It opens with some volatile notes that blow off to reveal palate-saturating flavors of black cherry and sour plum that are more blue-fruited than typical of sangiovese, perhaps derived from the small percentages of merlot and cabernet sauvignon included in the blend. Raspy tannins frame the flavors, which seem to gain vitality with exposure to air.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
