Score: 90Vintage 2016Vinous MediaGagliole's 2016 Chianti Classico Rubiolo is a flat-out stunner. Deep, resonant and beautifully layered in the glass, the 2016 is an absolute knockout. Cloves, cinnamon, lavender and wild dark cherry are pushed forward, but it is the wine's exceptional balance that truly elevates it. Floral overtones add the closing flourishes. This is a gorgeous wine and a tremendous value to boot. Fruit sources are Castellina and Panzano, with the breadth and richness of Panzano very much in evidence. The 2016 spent seven months in used French oak barrels, as opposed to the more typical 12 months or so.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
