  • Score: 91 Vintage 2019 James Suckling Magazine A tight, linear red with blackberries, black cherries and hints of stones on the nose and palate. Medium body. Tight and racy finish. Drink now or hold. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 88 Vintage 2019 Vinous Media The 2019 Chianti Classico Rubiolo is an attractive, gracious wine. Crushed flowers, mint, tobacco, cedar and dried cherries are nicely lifted in this perfumed, ethereal Chianti Classico. Rubiolo is a blend from Gagliole's two estate properties in Castellina and Panzano. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 92 Vintage 2018 James Suckling A red with very pretty berries, chocolate and hints of coffee. Medium body, medium chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Thoroughly drinkable, as always. Delicious. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 90 Vintage 2018 Wine Advocate One of the best value wines in Tuscany, the 2018 Chianti Classico Rubiolo is a lovely Sangiovese with most of its fruit sourced from the estate's Panzano property and some from Castellina. In fact, this is one of a handful of wineries in the appellation that purposefully blends fruit from different townships. The wine is delicate and fresh with plenty of wild cherry and blue ower. It falls lightly onto the palate with silky, featherweight intensity. I would enjoy it with a porcini sauce on pasta Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 89 Vintage 2018 Vinous Media The 2018 Chianti Classico Rubiolo is fresh, perfumed and absolutely delicious. Crushed red berry, rose petal, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco are all nicely lifted in this mid-weight, inviting wine. The Rubiolo is a gorgeous entry-level red from Gagliole. • Score: 88 Vintage 2018 Wine Spectator Graphite and wild thyme aromas lead off in this red, backed by flavors of cherry, plum and earth. Ends with gum-coating tannins. Drink now through 2026. 3,750 cases made, 1,700 cases imported. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 88 Vintage 2018 Wine and Spirits A hint of Sichuan peppercorn accents this wine has dark cherry flavors, while raspy tannins cleanse the finish. It's a bit rustic, ready for beef stew. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 92 Vintage 2017 James Suckling This has lovely dark plums, fresh herbs and violets. On the palate it’s tightly knit and elegant with a firm row of tannins, running through layers of pretty berries. Drink from 2020. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 90 Vintage 2017 Wine Advocate The 2017 Chianti Classico Rubiolo (100% Sangiovese) shows a delicately spicy side to the bouquet with cherry and blackberry that is nicely ripened but not overripe. This is an extremely balanced and precise wine. I can't image that these results were easy to achieve given the harsh, hot and dry conditions of the growing season. The finish is soft and velvety. Pair this with a rabbit dish. With 47,000 bottles made, you get fantastic value here. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 89 Vintage 2017 Vinous Media The 2017 Chianti Classico Rubiolo is plump, juicy and absolutely delicious. All of the richness and radiance of the year comes through in a supple, forward Chianti Classico that will drink well right out of the gate. Sweet red berries, flowers and a touch of spice add to the wine's racy personality. The Rubiolo is a blend of fruit from estate vineyards in both Castellina and Panzano. It was fermented in steel and aged in a combination of cask, neutral small barrels and cement. Best of all, the 2017 is a superb value. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 91 Vintage 2016 Wine and Spirits Rubiolo offers succulent red-cherry flavors framed by raspy sangiovese tannins. The wine aged in a mix of used barriques, large oak vats and stainless-steel tanks that preserved the freshness of the fruit and its lively floral scents. An excellent value, it’s a versatile wine that will satisfy with or without food. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 91 Vintage 2016 Wine Spectator Bright, bursting with black cherry, leather, iron and earth flavors, this red is rich and supple. Dusty tannins seep in on the finish, but overall this has an appealing softness. Drink now through 2028. 3,750 cases made, 1,500 cases imported. –BS Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 90 Vintage 2016 Vinous Media Gagliole's 2016 Chianti Classico Rubiolo is a flat-out stunner. Deep, resonant and beautifully layered in the glass, the 2016 is an absolute knockout. Cloves, cinnamon, lavender and wild dark cherry are pushed forward, but it is the wine's exceptional balance that truly elevates it. Floral overtones add the closing flourishes. This is a gorgeous wine and a tremendous value to boot. Fruit sources are Castellina and Panzano, with the breadth and richness of Panzano very much in evidence. The 2016 spent seven months in used French oak barrels, as opposed to the more typical 12 months or so. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
