Region NamePiedmont
Piemonte is considered by many the top wine region of Italy, being the land of Barolo and Barbaresco, even though these mega-popular wines only account for 3% of the region’s wine production.
Score: 92Vintage 2023The Wine Advocate This wine was bottled approximately one month before I tasted it in October and was set to hit the market in November 2024. The Produttori del Barbaresco 2023 Langhe Nebbiolo shows a shiny ruby appearance and offers crunchy fruit flavors with blueberry and tart raspberry. Fruit is collected from the sites and the warmer microclimates that don't end up in the Barbaresco program, and the wine sees a shorter maceration time, lasting 21 days.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 91Vintage 2022Wine AdvocateHere's a pretty little surprise from Produttori del Barbaresco. The 2022 Langhe Nebbiolo is slender and streamlined in consistency, but it remains surprisingly focused throughout. It shows raisiny flavors of prune and dried fig. The effect is delineated and sharp. The wine is generous, and it offers a lot of bright energy as well, within the context of hot-vintage fruit. This is an ample release of 100,000 bottles.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 89Vintage 2022VinousThere’s a lot to explore in these new releases from Produttori del Barbaresco. The 2019 Riservas show a good amount of vineyard definition, but they are also marked by a strong, somber, brooding quality. “Weather was up and down during the last phase of ripening,” Managing Director Aldo Vacca explained. “We had one good week of weather, but then conditions would deteriorate before improving again. This required us to be especially selective, so production for the crus is down about 20%.” In vintages like 2019 that are hard to read, I typically revisit the Riservas once they have had more time in bottle, which I expect to do this year. I imagine the 2019s will require a measure of patience. In the meantime, the 2020 Barbaresco will give readers a very good idea of the style of that year.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 88Vintage 2022Wine SpectatorGraphite, eucalyptus, cherry and raspberry flavors mark this sinewy red. Supple initially, then the dense, dusty tannins kick in, leaving a chewy finish. Drink now through 2030. Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 93Vintage 2021Wine AdvocateThe 2021 Langhe Nebbiolo opens to dark primary fruit with medium concentration and elegant tones of dried blackberry and pressed cherry. There is a soft earthy quality to the wine that recalls tea, dried tobacco leaf or peat moss. However, the slightly more concentrated quality of Nebbiolo offered by this wine is the main attraction. Cola or dried mint adds lift at the end. This is a release of 140,000 bottles.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 91Vintage 2021Vinous MediaThe 2021 Langhe Nebbiolo is a serious wine that will give readers a very good idea of what is in store with this vintage. Just bottled, the 2021 shows great depth and tons of character. Firm tannins wrap around a core of dark red Nebbiolo, with embryonic hints of spice and flowers that develop with a bit of air. As always, the Produttori's Langhe Nebbiolo is made 100% from Barbaresco-designated vineyards. The 2021 spent 20 days on the skins, unheard of for a wine at this level. It is, quite frankly, better than a few wines from more prestigious appellations. Don't miss it.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review

Score: 92Vintage 2018Wine AdvocateAs a palate teaser before this lovely flight of Riservas from Produttori del Barbaresco, I am delighted to start off with the delicate and fine 2018 Langhe Nebbiolo.
