  • Score: 92 Vintage 2021 James Suckling All material used across this succinct range is from the Classico DOCG. Ripasso is to ameliorate Valpolicella with weight, albeit, to 'rediscover' the marrow of Valpolicella in doing so. Legally, one can pass twice across the Amarone skins. At this address, the passing is a single one only to retain freshness and to avoid volatility. Pungent notes of mountain herb, dried fennel and mint, with a core of just-ripe-enough strawberry, loganberry and sour red berries popping long across the mouth. Great energy here, with a swathe of dried tobacco tannins to compress, direct and drive the finish. 2021 is among the best vintages of the last few decades. Mid-weighted, effortless and a dangerous proposition as one glass moves swiftly to an empty bottle. Drink or hold. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 90 Vintage 2021 Vinous Media The 2021 Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso is youthfully coy in the glass as a nuanced blend of incense and cloves gives way to dried black cherries. Medium in body, this floods the palate with silken textures as a rush of ripe wild berry fruits swirls throughout. The 2021 finishes classically dry and gently tannic, leaving a blackberry tinge and hints of sour orange. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 93 Vintage 2020 Wine Enthusiast Super pretty nose from the start with aromas of ripe red and black-hued fruits that give way to more savory aromas of laurel and green pepper. An expressive palate with vibrant acidity and a balance between fruit and savory flavors add to the complexity of this expressive and fun wine. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 92 Vintage 2020 Vinous Media Dark and almost smoky in the glass, the 2020 Valpolicella Superiore Classico Ripasso smolders up with a mix of musky red currants and savory herbs lifted by a hint of menthol. Silky smooth and with a pleasant inner sweetness, this soothes with ripe red fruits and saline-infused acidity. Licorice and lavender nuances are left to linger as this finishes only lightly structured and with finesse Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 90 Vintage 2020 Wine Spectator A balanced, compact red framed by a tang of orange peel acidity and light, snappy tannins. Offers notes of ripe black and red cherry, dried flowers and herbs, with minerally iron and smoke accents. Lingering, spiced finish. Drink now through 2029. 11,000 cases made, 784 cases imported. • Score: 90 Vintage 2020 Wine Advocate The organic Speri 2020 Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso opens to aromas of dried cherry and sweet tobacco. It shows a lot of upfront intensity with baked plum, cinnamon and earthy sensations. There is a dark component as well with tar or road paving over a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel.
