Argillae

The Argillae wine estate extends over 262 acres between the Allerona and Ficulle Hills to the northwest of Orvieto. The vineyards occupy 170 ac that enjoy a sunny, east-west orientation and an elevation of 1,150-1,640 feet. The soil is characterized by clay and sand that make up the world-renowned “calanchi” - These are deep, wide splits in the soil made by nature over millions of years and create a singular microclimate in which the indigenous varietals of the region thrive. It is for this very reason that the Bonollo, Di Cosimo and Ascenzi families selected this location for the production of Argillae’s wines.
