Franco Roero

Overview

Estate

Franco Roero is a family winery in the Monferrato region of Piemonte, a UNESCO World Heritage landscape renowned for its rolling hills and historic viticulture. The estate is deeply rooted in Monferrato traditions and produces wines that express the territory's authenticity and elegance.

Climate

The vineyards benefit from a continental climate with warm summers, cool nights, and consistent airflow across the hills. Significant day-night temperature differences favor slow ripening, preserving freshness, aromatic complexity, and balance

Soil

The soils are primarily composed of limestone, clay, and marl, typical of Monferrato, providing structure, minerality, aromatic finesse, and excellent balance to the wines.

Vineyards

The vineyards span selected hillside parcels in Monferrato and are planted primarily with indigenous Piedmontese grape varieties, including Grignolino and Barbera.

Cultivation

The winery practices sustainable vineyard management, including careful canopy work, low yields, and manual harvesting to preserve grape quality and territorial identity.

Winery

Traditional Piedmontese winemaking methods are combined with modern cellar technology to achieve precision, varietal purity, and an elegant expression of Monferrato terroir.

Family

The Roero family has been dedicated to viticulture for generations, preserving local traditions and upholding a philosophy rooted in authenticity, family values, and respect for the land. Today, the younger generation, represented by Gianluca, brings fresh energy and vision to the winery, continuing the family's heritage while looking toward the future of Monferrato winemaking.

Winemaker

The winery’s technical philosophy centers on producing balanced, elegant wines that showcase the freshness, structure, and identity of Piemonte’s native grape varieties.

Focus Point

• Family winery rooted in the Monferrato territory. • Strong focus on indigenous Piedmontese grape varieties. • Sustainable vineyard practices and manual harvesting. • Balance between tradition and modern winemaking.
