• Score: 98 Vintage 2023 The Wine Advocate Spicy, sweet and full of dark fruit, the Tua Rita 2023 Syrah Per Sempre is a strikingly expressive wine. Syrah can risk allowing structure to overwhelm varietal character, but as proprietor Stefano Frascolla notes, that is emphatically not the case here, making 2023 a particularly successful vintage in this regard. The wine is lively and vibrant on the palate with bright acidity. Winemaking favors an infusion-style approach with whole berries and more skins, increasing volume during maceration to build body without heaviness. The wine grows in dimension rather than fruit weight. Sweetly spiced on the close and beautifully poised, this Syrah feels different from earlier expressions yet is deeply convincing. • Score: 97 Vintage 2023 James Suckling Subtle aromas of crushed stones, blackberries, blueberries and flint follow through to a medium body with ultra-fine tannins and a refined finish. Hints of sandalwood and nutmeg with a citrus undertone. Elegant and pretty. Shows a precise and soft hand in the vineyard and winemaking. Sustainable. Drinkable already, but will age beautifully. • Score: 95 Vintage 2023 Vinous The 2023 Syrah Per Sempre is a very promising wine. Silky, aromatic and light on its feet, the 2023 is so refined. • Score: 99 Vintage 2022 James Suckling The purity of fruit on the nose is really something, with violets, lavender, sandalwood, light white pepper and white roses. • Score: 96 Vintage 2022 The Wine Advocate The Tua Rita 2022 Syrah Per Sempre draws its precious fruit from a half-hectare parcel planted in 1998 and another parcel planted in 2004. The advanced age of the vines adds to the complexity and depth of the wine with dark plum, sweet spice, toast and campfire ash. Per Sempre ages in oak for 18 months with 80% new wood and 20% second-use barrique. Syrah does a great job of balancing its fruit against the integrated oak. The wine makes a big impact on the senses thanks to its open-knit texture and generous concentration. • Score: 95 Vintage 2022 Vinous The 2022 Syrah Per Sempre is packed with dark red cherry fruit, blood orange, cinnamon, spice, new leather and rose petal.
