  • Score: 96 Vintage 2023 James Suckling What a wonderful wine. Aromas of black and green olives, chocolate and hazelnuts. Medium-bodied with creamy tannins and a caressing finish. It’s so seductive and beautiful. A joy to drink. Made in terra cotta amphorae with skins and some whole clusters for four months and then aged four or five months in seasoned barrels. Terrific wine that emphasizes character and drinkablity. Sustainable. Drink now or hold. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 93 Vintage 2023 Vinous The 2023 Syrah Keir is laced with wild cherry, herbs, dried herbs, mint and pipe tobacco. The 40-50% stems are evident in the wine's profile. Pliant and deep, the 2023 has quite a bit to offer, but it is also still coming together. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 95 Vintage 2022 James Suckling A juicy and chocolatey red with cloves, black pepper and hints of terra cotta. It’s medium-bodied with round and crunchy fruit and a light hazelnut and clove finish. Just a hint of bitter chocolate. 30% whole bunch. Fermented and aged in amphorae. Drink now. • Score: 94 Vintage 2022 Vinous The 2022 Keir is a classic Tua Rita wine. Dark cherry, plum, spice, new leather, licorice and mocha are all amplified in this decidedly broad, expansive Syrah from Tua Rita. The 40-50% stems are nearly buried by the sheer density of the fruit. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 94 Vintage 2022 The Wine Advocate The Tua Rita 2022 Keir Rosso is all Syrah made in amphorae with up to 20% whole-cluster fruit (depending on the vintage). The wine finishes malolactic fermentation in the clay vessels and is taken out in March of the following year. The winery uses Manetti clay pots with six-centimeter-thick walls that offer enough porosity for careful oxidation. The 2023 edition was a little closed initially, showing dark fruit and blackberry traits nevertheless. The wine is concentrated and texturally rich. The hot vintage is perhaps less focused on vertical aromas and more focused on the broader impact of the mouthfeel. The vines were planted in 2004. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 93 Vintage 2022 Wine Spectator This red is supple and laced with blackberry, black currant and blueberry fruit, shaded by spice and graphite accents. There’s a meaty element, along with a touch of tar, but overall this is elegant and harmonious. Syrah. Drink now through 2032.—B.S. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 93 Vintage 2022 Jeb Dunnuck Made from 100% Syrah, the 2022 Syrah Keir is raised in amphora with 40% whole bunches and bottled without filtration. It has a bright red/purple-tinged color, and although it’s a little shy, it starts to show its pretty floral side as it begins to open, with aromas of violets, baked earth, and black raspberries. The palate is full-bodied but with a weightless feel, and it has well-defined, structured tannins, refreshing, ripe acidity, and a clean, savory finish. Drink 2026-2036. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 95 Vintage 2021 The Wine Advocate The Tua Rita 2021 Keir Rosso is Syrah fermented on the skins in Tuscan clay jars. This wine always reveals a pleasingly elegant character, with much of its aromatic power coming directly from the skins, with dried cherry and redcurrant. With time, you get menthol notes, cola and subtle spice. That bright spot of freshness is easy to identify in this vintage. With time, the wine turns to crushed rose and lilac. Fruit for this wine is picked from a parcel planted in 2004 very close to the Syrah that gives birth to Per Sempre. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 95 Vintage 2021 James Suckling Love the nose with the dried flowers, red beans and red fruits that follow through to a medium body with firm tannins and a crunchy and delicious finish. Just a hint of cappuccino. Made in amphora with whole clusters of grapes and a tiny bit of wood aging for four months. Pure syrah. Drink now or hold. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 94 Vintage 2021 Vinous The 2021 Syrah Keir is beguiling. Sweet floral and spice nuances lead into a core of dark-fleshed fruit. Earthy and savory notes appear later, adding further shades of complexity. Medium in body and aromatic, the 2021 has a lot to offer. Bright acids on the finish could use time to soften, but the 2021 is quite alluring now, even in the early going. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 93 Vintage 2021 Wine Spectator Rich, ripe and dense, this red is also vibrant -- a backdrop for its blackberry, spice and salt flavors -- with excellent balance and refined tannins. The long aftertaste evokes black fruit, lavender and mineral notes. Drink now through 2032. 208 cases made, 60 cases imported Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 96 Vintage 2020 The Wine Advocate Made with Syrah that stays on the skins (with some whole clusters) for six months in amphorae, the 2020 Keir Rosso is a wine that requires considerable manual labor, Tua Rita proprietor Stefano Frascolla tells me. They work with five amphorae (called "orcio" in Tuscany). This is a wine of enormous character and depth. The winey founder, the late Virgilio Bisti (Stefano's father-in-law), always believed in Syrah and paid special attention to this varietal. His instincts proved spot-on, as Syrah from his property in Suvereto shows outstanding results. There is so much varietal character here with dark fruit, earth and crushed peppercorn. The results are bright, fresh and full of character. This bottle hits it out of the ballpark. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 96 Vintage 2020 James Suckling Lots of syrah meaty character here, together with fresh and dried flowers. Really perfumed. Medium-to full-bodied with very fine tannins and a long, long finish. This is the really deal. Six months on the skin. Amphora. Drink or hold. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 95 Vintage 2020 Vinous The 2020 Syrah Keir offers up a heady mix of intense dark fruit, herbs, mint, spice and lavender. Deep and layered in the glass, the 2020 possesses notable textural depth yet remains light on its feet. The long, sustained finish is super-attractive. Readers will find a quintessential contemporary Tua Rita wine. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 94 Vintage 2020 Wine Spectator Marked by blackberry, black olive, bacon and black pepper aromas and flavors, this red delivers fine varietal character. Supple and harmonious, despite the firm structure, ending with a complex cascade of fruit, spice and mineral notes. Best from 2025 through 2040. 208 cases made, 50 cases imported.
