Score: 90Vintage 2020Jeb Dunnuck A bright ruby red color, the 2020 Brunello Di Montalcino Paesaggio Inatteso offers a more floral perfume in its notes of crushed raspberries, sweet herbs, a hint of peppery spice, and crushed flowers. The palate is tangy with fine, dusty tannins, and it has a more citrus-noted finish. A coiled and nervous wine, I personally prefer the standard Brunello to this right now, as the acidity feels a bit green or unripe. Drink 2025-2032.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 95Vintage 2019Wine SpectatorThis version puts everything together nicely, from the cherry, plum, earth and iron aromas and flavors to the well-integrated structure and the long aftertaste. Fresh, supple and vigorous, this shows refinement, with a lingering mineral element on the finish. Best from 2027 through 2043.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 95Vintage 2019James Suckling MagazineLively and vibrant red fruits of cranberries, red cherries, and potpourri followed by dried rosemary and pleasant orange peel that lifts the experience. Medium-bodied with refreshing acidity and firm yet smooth-textured tannins. Pure and elegant. From organically grown grapes. Enjoyable now. Better after 2030.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 93Vintage 2019Wine AdvocateThe organic Camigliano 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Paesaggio Inatteso carries a lot of ripe fruit with dark plum, prune and blackcurrant. It also exhibits cured tobacco and cigar box. The difference between this wine and the village bottling is that Paesaggio Inatteso sees a little longer time in oak (30 months instead of 24 months) and the oak containers are smaller (25 hectoliters instead of 60 hectoliters). A mid-weight mouthfeel ends with dusty tannins and a strong 15% alcohol content. Only 4,000 bottles were made.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 87Vintage 2019Vinous MediaThe 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Paesaggio Inatteso is darkly floral with a rich blend of plum sauce and sage lifted by mint. It sweeps across the palate with cool-toned red fruits and rosy inner florals, all guided by fresh acidity. This tapers off tart, tannic and with an unsavory orange and mineral concentration. The Inatteso had me right up until the end.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 94Vintage 2018Wine SpectatorA perfumed red introduced by rose, strawberry and kirsch aromas and flavors, with savory notes of eucalyptus and mint weighing in as this firms up midpalate through the finish. Elegant and vibrant. Best from 2024 through 2040. 350 cases made, 80 cases imported.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 94Vintage 2018James SucklingFragrant aromas of tulips, plums, cherries and orange peel. Full-bodied with vibrant fruit shining out of a tight, firm and fine tannin frame. So much energy here. Fruit evolves to praline and walnuts. From organically grown grapes. Drink after 2024.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 93Vintage 2018Wine EnthusiastThe nose is savory and sanguine, with notes of coffee, soil, iron and a light woodiness, but dried cranberries and blood oranges provide levity. More bitter citrus and astringent red fruit mingle with savory elements on the palate, where polished tannins float over the tongue. Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 93Vintage 2018Wine AdvocateThe 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Paesaggio Inatteso delivers a confident and upfront presentation of aromas with dark fruit, light spice, tarry smoke and cured tobacco. The wine presents a complete portrait of a vintage that offers ripe fruit on the one hand and acidic freshness on the other. It shows a streamlined, mid-weight mouthfeel with a tannic structure that veers toward accessibility. This is a certified organic wine, and again, my main complaint is a too-high 15% alcohol content. Production is 6,600 bottles.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 92Vintage 2018Vinous MediaA dusty bouquet of dried roses, black cherries, licorice and worn leather makes the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Paesaggio Inatteso a total pleasure on the nose. This is silky upon entry and energetic, with potent red fruits and savory spices that drench the palate with youthful concentration. Through it all, a subtle coating of crunchy tannins settles in, providing a crisp framework that lingers through the perfumed finale. This may not be a classic Brunello, but in a few years time, I expect the Paesaggio Inatteso to be overdelivering in every way.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 95Vintage 2017Wine SpectatorThis linear, almost racy red is bisected by a beam of cherry, strawberry and currant, with iron, earth and eucalyptus playing supporting roles. Firms up as it builds to the long, expansive finish, yet its lasting impression is ripe fruit. Complex and intense. Best from 2025 through 2043. 300 cases made, 20 cases imported.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 92Vintage 2017Wine AdvocateThe Camigliano 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Paesaggio Inatteso shows a more balanced approach to this challenging vintage. I've always liked the concept of this wine, or of the hidden beauty of the Montalcino landscape, as the wine name "unexpected landscapes" suggests. It is well suited to Camigliano, which is quite literally tucked away in its own magical corner of the appellation with wide horizons and sun-drenched hills. This special selection of fruit (in a 3,800-bottle release) shows a ripe side with dark cherry and blackberry, but it ends with velvety, pliant tannins that are good for near and medium-term drinking.
Camigliano has completed its conversion over to organic farming, and the wines from the 2017 vintage should already fall under organic protocols (although I didn't yet notice a seal of certification on the sample bottles I received).Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 91Vintage 2017Vinous MediaWild strawberries, peppery herbs, crushed stone and hints of animal musk define the 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Paesaggio Inatteso. It’s silky-smooth with a pleasant inner sweetness, as waves of ripe, mineral-tinged berries cascade across the palate. Rosy inner florals, hints of leather and savory spices linger long over a subtle coating of fine tannins. This shows admirable balance and upfront appeal, making the Paesaggio Inatteso an excellent choice for short-term cellaring.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 90Vintage 2017Wine EnthusiastAromas of scorched underbrush, menthol, toasted notes and coffee bean form the nose, while a whiff of violet appears in the background. On the dense, full-bodied palate, dusty, drying tannins accompany prune steeped in spirits, black licorice and coconut before a rather astringent finish. Drink 2025–2029. Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 96Vintage 2016James SucklingA rich, decadent red with black-cherry and flower aromas, as well as citrus and crushed stone. Some wet bark, too. It’s full-bodied, yet reserved and toned with nicely crafted tannins that melt into the wine. Vivid acidity. A poised, polished red. Best after 2022.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 94Vintage 2016Wine SpectatorPlum and black cherry aromas and flavors highlight this dense, muscular red, accented by wild herb, iron and sanguine notes. Staying vibrant and long, this is balanced, with the quality of tannins in line with the southwestern sector of Montalcino. Best from 2025 through 2047. 550 cases made, 50 cases imported.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 94Vintage 2016Wine AdvocateThe Camigliano 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Paesaggio Inatteso is a tiny production of just 2,600 bottles, all drawn from a two-hectare site with sandy limestone, located apart from the estate's core vineyard block, which the Ghezzi family holds in special regard. Indeed, the character of this wine is quite different from the classic 2016 Brunello. I don't get those heavier aromas of asphalt or charred earth here. This wine is much softer in approach with delicate and pure fruit. Cherry, plum and dried raspberry cede to light spice and tobacco. Paesaggio Inatteso means "unexpected landscape" in Italian, and this wine does stand apart from the others in the Camigliano portfolio.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 93Vintage 2016Vinous MediaThere’s an exotic spiciness about the 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Paesaggio Inatteso that I’m finding quite attractive. A mix of dried flowery perfumes lifts from the glass, slowly revealing deeper notes of strawberry and sage. The textures are soothing and soft, ushering in a more sapid expression of ripe dark fruits and balsamic spice. Brisk acids maintain balance and soften the blow, as a coating of fine tannins settle in. The 2016 Paesaggio Inatteso is classically dry and structured, yet with enough primary intensity to guarantee a steady evolution in our cellars for the next five to ten years. Very nice.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 93Vintage 2016Wine AdvocateThe Camigliano 2016 Brunello di Montalcino offers a more robust bouquet compared to its peers, with its dark and saturated fruit. One thing Camigliano has going for it is that it always delivers the characteristics of its environment. In this case, the vines are located in a warm, sun-drenched corner of Tuscany, and the warm ripeness of the fruit is a testament of place. You also get aromas of scorched earth, grilled porcino mushroom and a touch of burnt rubber or summer asphalt. This is an ample 150,000-bottle production.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review

Score: 91Vintage 2016Wine EnthusiastLicorice, eucalyptus, moist underbrush and crushed mint aromas take center stage along with whiffs of toasted walnut. The licorice note follows through to the solid palate along with dried cherry, roasted mushroom and coffee bean before finishing on a saline note.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 89Vintage 2016Vinous MediaThe 2016 Camigliano Brunello di Montalcino leads off with a slightly herbal and stemmy character, which over time blends with notes of woodland berries and moist soil tones. It’s soft and fleshy with intensely sweet medicinal cherry and spice contrasted by zippy acids and a hint of sour citrus. This finishes gently tannic and leaning more toward the dark fruit spectrum, where blackberry mixes with notes of tobacco. There is a rusticity here that’s not for everyone. In the end, it’s a Brunello to enjoy sooner rather than later.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 95Vintage 2015Wine AdvocateThis wine sees fruit from a two-hectare site (at 300 meters above sea level) with loamy sand soils. The Camigliano 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Paesaggio Inatteso will be released in March 2020, with a mere 2,600 bottles produced. This is a very special wine with a unique set of aromas. It shows pronounced Mediterranean accents of rosemary, lavender and dried basil leaf. The wine's fruit profile is also front and center with wild berry and dried cassis. The mouthfeel is silky, lean and topped off by well integrated tannins.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 95Vintage 2015James SucklingThe purity and focus to this young Brunello is certainly impressive with crushed berries and flowers, as well as burnt orange peel on the nose. Full body. Firm and silky tannins with an intense backbone and focus. A seriously structured and balanced red. New wine from here. Drink after 2022.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 93Vintage 2015Wine SpectatorEnticing flavors of black cherry, plum, iron, leather, earth and tobacco mark this red. Dense tannins and bright acidity lay down structural support. Tips toward the dry side in the balance despite the persistent finish. Best from 2023 through 2038. 216 cases made, 85 cases imported.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 92Vintage 2015Vinous MediaThe 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Paesaggio Inatteso presents a remarkably pretty display of ripe strawberries, offset by notes of citrus zest, with a mix of sweet spice, wild herbs, and lifting floral notes. On the palate, silky textures give way to black cherry, underscored by vibrant acids and saline minerals, as contrasting sweet spice and pretty inner florals develop. It finishes long and spicy, resonating on minerality and slowly revealing its fine tannins toward the finale.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
Score: 90Vintage 2015Wine EnthusiastUnderbrush, scorched earth and toasted hazelnut aromas lead the nose. On the rounded, accessible palate, polished tannins accompany dried cherry, roasted almond and a hint of licorice. Drink sooner rather than later to capture the fruit richness.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
