  • Score: 93 Vintage 2020 James Suckling An amber-orange color with aromas of bergamot, dried orange, clove, star anise, chamomile and seashell. It’s medium-bodied with bright acidity and a fine tannin structure. Savory, spicy and flavorful. Very well done. No sulphites added. Unfiltered. Drink now. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 92 Vintage 2020 Vinous Media The 2020 Trebianco di Santa Lucia is a blend of Trebbiano, Chardonnay, Traminer, Sauvignon Blanc and Malvasia done in amphora. Readers will find an orange wine of notable structure, power and intensity. Tangerine oil, chamomile, hazelnut and spice add complexity. Stylistically, the Trebianco is pretty eccentric compared to most of the reds, especially the flagships. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 91 Vintage 2020 Wine Advocate Made with no added sulfites, as is recorded on the front label, the Castello dei Rampolla 2020 Trebianco di S. Lucia opens to a darkish copper color and orange highlights. Made in amphorae, the nose is neutral with subtle hints of beeswax, candied fruit and dried apricot that denote an oxidative winemaking style. As the wine opens in the glass, you will appreciate hints of flowery tea leaf and some lingering nuttiness. Skin contact gives this white wine a unique sense of tannic firmness and structure. The blend is Trebbiano, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Traminer. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 93 Vintage 2019 James Suckling A substantial white with salt, wood, lees-stir and cooked-apple character. Full-bodied. No sulfur added. Very cool and fun to taste with serious winemaking behind it. An unfiltered blend of trebbiano, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc and traminer. Drink now. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 91 Vintage 2019 Wine Enthusiast Made with Trebbiano, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Traminer and vinified in cement clayvers, this is almost an orange wine. Medium-bodied and smooth, with a glycerin-like texture, it has multifaceted aromas including honey, ripe grapefruit, lychee, Spanish broom and dried yellow stone fruit. The aromas carry over to the palate along with mineral, lemon drop candy and a yeasty whiff of bread dough. Tangy acidity lifts the rich flavors. It's unusual, compelling and delicious. • Score: 91 Vintage 2019 Wine Advocate The Castello dei Rampolla 2019 Trebianco di S. Lucia (made without added sulfites) is a blend of Trebbiano, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Traminer. This is a raw and authentic white that smells of the purity of the grapes, and the soils of Tuscany scooped up into your hands on a warm sunny day. The wine is redolent of orchard fruit, honey, dried apricot, saffron spice and waxy apple or pear. Background notes of baked terracotta, crushed rock and even a touch of brown sugar appear in moderation. This white wine has the texture and fiber to pair with fried chicken or filet di baccalà (codfish sticks). Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 89 Vintage 2019 Wine Spectator An expressive, fruity style, this white evokes white flowers and peach flavors with hints of orange peel and anise. It's buttery, with a saline aftertaste. Trebbiano, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Traminer. Drink now. 230 cases made, 30 cases imported. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
  • Score: 88 Vintage 2019 Vinous Media The 2019 Trebianco di Santa Lucia is a blend of 50% Trebbiano, 20% Chardonnay, 20% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Traminer done with skin contact. Apricot, chamomile, dried flowers and orange peel all develop in the glass. There is terrific weight and plenty of resonance, I just wish the aromatics were a bit more focused. • Score: 89 Vintage 2018 Vinous Media The 2018 Trebianco di Santa Lucia is a blend of Trebbiano, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Traminer done in terra cotta. There is good depth and persistence, but the choice to ferment and age in amphora yields a wine in which that decision overpowers expressions of vintage and/or varieties. The 2018 will find most favor with readers who enjoy orange wines. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
