• Score: 92 Vintage 2015 Vinous Media The 2015 Colpetrone Rosso di Montefalco is much more refined and perfumed than I would have expected from this warm vintage, showing peppery herbs and dusty florals, plus crushed red wild berries and a hint of dusty earth. On the palate, silky textures envelop all that they touch in ripe cherry fruit and sweet spices, made juicy through vibrant acidity and minerals, as round tannins slowly settle in. The finish is medium in length, leaning more toward the tart black fruit spectrum, yet with a salty twang that makes the mouth water. The 2017 is really quite stunning today. • Score: 90 Vintage 2014 Vinous Media The 2014 Colpetrone Rosso di Montefalco is wonderfully fresh yet also quite spicy, leading off with dusty flowers and hints of peppery herbs, as notes of bright cherry, hints of leather and cedar develop in the glass. On the palate, soft textures flood the senses with creamy, ripe berries, subtle spice and inner florals.
