- Score: 93 Vintage 2020 Wine Advocate The Poderi Luigi Einaudi 2020 Barolo Ludo shows classic Nebbiolo aromas of roses and tar that are fleshed out in this case by redcurrant and cranberry. The fruit is bright and lively, not overripe, as we see in many other wines from this vintage, with a touch of something spicy like saffron or aniseed. It shows nice overall balance with good acidity. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
- Score: 92 Vintage 2020 James Suckling A fresh and fragrant nose with cherries, dried cranberries, hints of rose hips, sandalwood and dried orange. Some wet stone character, too. Bright and juicy on the medium-bodied palate with dusty tannins and savory character to the red fruit and vivid acidity. Textured and chalky. Attractive now, but better after 2026. - Score: 91 Vintage 2020 Wine Spectator Elegant and detailed, offering floral, cherry, menthol and tar aromas and flavors. Bright and balanced, this red ends with chalky tannins that leave a light grip. Shows fine length and should be approachable soon. Best from 2026 through 2040. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
- Score: 91 Vintage 2020 Wine Enthusiast The wine is a harmonious blend, featuring spiced cherry jam and tart cranberry notes atop an earthy forest floor base. It boasts a great structure, with mouthwatering acidity that is both fine and subtly surprising. Elegant tannins round out the frame of this well-composed wine. — Jeff Porter Shelf Talker Full Page Review
- Score: 89 Vintage 2020 Vinous Media The 2020 Barolo Ludo is a tasty entry-level offering from Einaudi. Crushed flowers, tobacco, mint, cedar and dried herbs give the 2020 lovely aromatic presence. This inviting, mid-weight Barolo is all class. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
- Score: 93 Vintage 2019 Wine Spectator Bright and well-delineated, exuding cherry, strawberry, rose and earth flavors. Turns firm and tightly wound from midpalate through the finish, showing the austerity of the vintage. There is plenty here, but this just needs time. Best from 2026 through 2045. 3,900 cases made. - Score: 92 Vintage 2019 James Suckling Plenty of dried flowers with spices such as cloves and dried lavender. Strawberry and orange peel. Medium-bodied with firm and racy tannins and a fresh and firm finish. A little tight and lean. Should soften and open with time. Better in 2026. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
- Score: 91 Vintage 2019 Wine Enthusiast High-toned red fruits mingle with savory spices, leather and tobacco, expressing earthy characteristics. The woodsy palate features dried cherries, and fine tannins that lead to an earthy finish. Drink 2025–2045. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
- Score: 89 Vintage 2019 Vinous Media The 2019 Barolo Ludo is a solid entry-level offering from Einaudi. Sweet cherry, tobacco, spice, menthol and dried flowers fill out the layers. The 2019 is an attractive, classically styled Barolo. I would like to have seen a bit more freshness. Another year or two should help the tannins soften. Shelf Talker Full Page Review
