Produttori del Barbaresco

Overview
Estate
Founded in 1958, Produttori del Barbaresco today has 53 members and 120 hectares of Nebbiolo vineyards. Day after day, generation after generation, more than 50 families tend the precious Nebbiolo vineyards to produce the finest grapes. The fruit of their labor is delivered to the Winery they themselves founded, where, with care and respect, it is transformed into Barbaresco wine.
Climate
The climate is continental, with hot summers, cold, sometimes snowy winters, and mild springs and autumns.
Soil
The soil is calcareous-clayey and rich in limestone. The varying percentages of calcium and veins of sand of different extents give each slope distinctive characteristics, later reflected in the wines produced.
Vineyards
The families oversee 120 hectares of Nebbiolo vineyards suitable for Barbaresco, spanning the 4 municipalities of the DOCG area. In vintages considered excellent and consistent, 9 Barbaresco wines from specific MGAs are also produced and released as Riserva after 5 years. These are historic vineyards of great prestige, produced by Produttori since 1967: Asili, Montefico, Montestefano, Muncagota, Ovello, Pajè, Pora, Rabajà, and Rio Sordo.
Cultivation
Conventional yet sustainable, with minimal use of chemical pesticides. The training system is Guyot, and pruning is entirely manual. Harvesting is done by hand, and grapes must be delivered in small perforated baskets with a maximum capacity of 25 kg.
Winery
Today, it remains the only single-varietal winery in the Langhe. The vinification style is traditional and consistent across all wines. The must is fermented in stainless steel at 28°-30°C for 24-28 days, with frequent pump-overs. Aging in 25-75 hectoliter French oak barrels lasts 2 years for our Barbaresco DOCG and 3 years for our 9 Single-Vineyard Riservas.
Family
53 grower members, spanning different generations, have united at a single historic winery since 1958.
Winemaker
Fabio Accomasso graduated from the Alba School of Enology in 1996. Since 1999, he has served as technical-commercial manager for oenological products and technologies. In 2012, he joined Produttori del Barbaresco, where he worked alongside Gianni Testa for several years. Since 2024, he has been our technical director.
