Calabria At a Glance
Region NameCalabria
Calabria is a non-industrial rural mountainous region. Its economy is dependent on cereals, citrus, and particularly olives, with a per-capita income less than half the national average. Called Enotria by the Greeks in pre-Roma times for its illustrious vinous past, today viticulture and winemaking are far from the vital industries they once were and account for a tiny proportion of land use.
Score: 89Vintage 2021Wine EnthusiastDelicate flowers
and fruit float off the nose of this Greco,
from almond flowers to ripe pears to Meyer lemons.
The palate highlights lemon-lime citrus and more
pears, but then more savory notes emerge, from wet
slate to nutty, tahini elements, all punched up with
a through line of sharp acid.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review

Score: 86Vintage 2019Vinous MediaThe 2019 Greco is pretty with nuances of sweet white flowers, crushed stone and lemon confit. This is a soft and pleasantly ripe effort that balances sweet melon with salty mineral tones. Exotic florals and a hint of mint linger as it tapers off with medium length.Shelf TalkerFull Page Review
