Statti

Overview
Estate
Amid the plain of Lamezia Terme, the agricultural heart of Calabria, ninety people work at the Azienda Agricola Statti (Statti Farmhouse) across three hundred hectares of a centuries-old olive grove, a hundred hectares of vineyard, fifty hectares of citrus orchard, and cattle breeding, producing five thousand liters of milk per day. We are talking about five hundred hectares if we consider the fit for sowing as well.
Climate
Lamezia Terme enjoys a warm Mediterranean climate strongly influenced by the nearby Tyrrhenian Sea. Hot, sunny days, mild winters, and steady sea breezes create ideal conditions for grape growing, helping the vines reach full ripeness while preserving freshness and balance in the wines.
Soil
The soils of Statti’s vineyards are diverse and closely tied to Calabria’s coastal terroir, ranging from sandy and loamy soils to rich red clay. These mineral-rich, well-draining soils contribute to the wines’ structure, freshness, and distinctive Mediterranean character.
Vineyards
The vineyards cover about 100 hectares at the back of a hill that protects them from winds coming from the sea. The training method is the cordon spur system. The spacing of the vines is sufficient to allow the use of machines for all phases of work, and the vineyard is partially fed with manure from our cattle breeding.
Cultivation
Harvest time runs from mid-August to the middle of October. It starts with white and international red grapes and finishes with the local ones.
Winery
Statti’s winery combines the scale of a historic family estate with a modern, efficiency-driven production facility designed to carefully handle both indigenous and international grape varieties. The cellar is equipped with temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks alongside oak barriques and large wooden casks, allowing the winery to preserve freshness in whites while enhancing structure and complexity in the reds.
Family
The Statti family has been connected to Calabria's agricultural traditions for generations, cultivating vineyards and olive groves in the area around Lamezia Terme. Today, Alberto and Antonio Statti continue to lead the estate with a vision that combines respect for local heritage, modern viticulture, and a strong commitment to expressing the region's authentic Mediterranean character.
Winemaker
Nicola Colombo is Statti’s longtime winemaker, combining technical precision with deep respect for Calabria’s native grape varieties and Mediterranean terroir. Having trained alongside renowned Italian enologists, he focuses on freshness, balance, and the authentic expression of southern Italian wines.
